2/3 of the season completed now, and expecting many more twists and turns in the last 1/3. Very routine win for us yesterday, though I think that the Oundle boys will be pretty disappointed in their performance.
Next Saturdays game are certainly spicey looking, and will have a bearing on the title.
Moulton take on Hotpoint and will be drawing (or Moulton maybe winning please) and we take on Dave's impressive Crowland outfit. Looks like this will be a really tough game for us, particularly without 3 midfielders (Mcpartlin, Gawrysiak & Baines all unavailable).
Nice to have a defeat in hand in the back pocket, and would like to keep it there as long as possible.
Obviously i hope that u do need to use your trump card. Well impressed with our performance yesterday having only 10 men for more than 90 mins of the game. The odd goal will win it next Saturday, hopefully in our favour

two draws would be nice and us winning and a draw will be ideal!!
Really think that if a positive result in the other game this will mean that the team who loses will stand no chance of winning the title, speaking to most people they feel that ortonians to lose but i know tommy and boys are having none of that.
we be down at hotpoint hopefully, cheering on the draw!!!
U actually comin to watch us this season foggy
He enjoys his football too much Bainesy !!!!

Have you got a full squad to pick from Spec?
Had 5 out Saturday Tommy and still managed to rattle a few in mate and Saturday coming waiting on 3 of the 5, but hopefully will only be missing Matt and Chris Woolard who are both long term anyway, although Matt could well be back in the next couple of weeks.

Well mate, all or nothing i guess. Its still going to be difficult to catch Ortonians with a win but anything less and its goodnight eh mate?Either way you should be proud of what you have achieved this season after all the hassle you had before Christmas.
We'll just keep plugging away mate, thanks for the sentiment Tom but you know me, got to win something soon now, might have to have another season at it !!!!
Bit early Tom to be deciding titles with Ortons still to play 10 games and a tough one aginst Crowland and some other big games to come (gotta play Whittlesey agin yet) Could go down to the last game

ortonians would have to loose 2 or 3 of thier 10 games for it to get a bit interesting, so from an outsiders point of view its all over. still find it hard to believe with all the players hotpoint have got signed on that they are yet again destined to miss out.

With all due respect to the people giving us the title, I think that is crazy talk - we still have the following 10 matches to play
Home - PSL, Perkins, Alconbury, Wimblington, Whittlesey & Crowland
Away - Moulton, PSL, Wimblington & Leverington
Probably as many as 8 banana skins there, which is probably an insulting title in itself - we have some bloody tough games left.
I know that I have said all along that I think we will win the title, but if the manager does not think it, then who will?
What I have also always said is that it will be very tight and all we are, is in a good position at 2/3 distance, but this is not when the league is handed out.

Is the outspoken, everyone hates ortonians mr Tommy Cooper playing things down. from remaining fixtures we should win 7 out of 10 and that will be enough to win the league. Also whilst we are losing 3, moulton and hotpoint must win every remaining game which i can not see specially as they play each other twice!!!
Ortonians must be 1/3 to win title
Hotpoint 4/1
moulton 15/2
20/1 bar
ps. tommy am saving my drinks you owe me for clean sheets!!!

Foggy, Foggy, Foggy - did you learn nothing from the JNE debacle last season?
It was at this time that you were all being very vocal about winning 4 trophies and won zip.
Yes we are in a good position - yes we are favourites (10/11 in my book). But as a betting man your odds for both Hotpoint & Moulton are pretty good and I might place a bet with you via a 3rd party.
Good luck as you embark on your managerial career and make sure you listen to everything Wills tells you - then ignore it.
Foggy, I think you will find if you win 8 out of your last 10 games and lose and draw the other 2 you would still lose the title, a lot closer than you think young man, it would mean us having to win all our last 9 games, it would be tough for us but very possible.
Give it another 5 games then assess your chances, we shall put it down to your novicey excitement !!! (Foggy don't get involved in management mate, it is not for you)

And indeed there is every chance that we won't win Saturday given our injuries and unavailability due to holidays and work, which will put Hotpoint top if they win at Moulton.
Apart from Moulton twice, I think Hotpoint only have Oundle twice and Alconbury, who I am led to believe would rather see Hotpoint win the league? Mind you that is probably true of every other club and the way I would prefer it to be honest. Rest of Hotpoint games are against the lower sides, so we might have to win 9 out of 10 - Hotpoint now favourites!!!

Tommy??? Is Ayres playing for you this Saturday?
I have a side bet with a Crowland lad involving him.
It's only for a beer  and is for a laugh, so nothing worth going into if you'd rather not say etc...
Prefer to keep the nature of the bet under wraps (till after the game) as wouldn't want to give the game away -
it's not derogatory in any way to either team or player/s by the way.
Tommy surely you didn't think I hadn't done my homework !! Not a bad effort to try and difuse the situation though but were you trying to keep from your players that it is not quite so straightforward as they might think it is to win the league ?
I like the only Oundle and the Alconbury bit and the half expecting to lose Saturday comment but sorry my old mate you are still favourites,I think Oundle will be as much as a test as Moulton, accept the pressure and get on with it. At least there is still a bit of competition in it to keep neutrals happy you wouldn't have wanted to have it wrapped up already would you.......
Now, now Tommy don't go making excuses already before Saturday. I would actually prefer you to have a full side cos i'm certain that we're more than capable of coming away with 3 points even with your best 11. Makes it easy for you to justify if we win cos u'll just say 'It would have been a different story if we had a full side'
Just hope you're man enough to admit, if we win, that we were the better side and played the better football (obviously only if this is the case) and i will do the same if it's the other way around.
Good luck and can't wait!!!

Back of the Net - Lee Ayres will start Saturday - we only have 11 at the moment so not giving anything away there. Probably have me, Robbo & Jeary on the bench!
Totally agree Spec - remember we intend winning the league at present on April 29th, which is of course currently due to be the last game of the season and as we are due to play both PSL & Perkins that day, it would seem the natural choice.
Honoured to be fighting it out with 2 great sides like Hotpoint & Moulton and feel mightily humbled to be thought of as favourites in that exalted company - our poor little club will just carry on doing the best we can each week and hope to stay in touch for as long as we can.

u take the prices with foggy tommy, if you could get 10/11 anywhere snatch there hands off, that would be an outragous price. there would be plenty off people waiting to take that on. i would for one, its un usual for you to start getting quite on winning league?????
I don't like you agreeing with me Tommy, kind of leads me into a false sense of security, good luck for Saturday Hyypia live up to the name and get yourself a goal, should be a good game and I wish I could watch it.

tommy, spec. old heads with young hearts!!! just my opinion and nothing more than that. Winning all the games will be hard spec and after seeing moulton on sat they did not play well and won so you and your guys will have to be on their game.
My managerial career is only a stop gap whilst i recover and get fit for next year. Just gotta find a club who wants me!!!
good luck both teams on sat, obviously a ortonians win and a draw would be delightful as would like a league winners medal to go with my cup one!!!

When you beat us Hyppia, Willy knows I will be the first to congratulate you and buy him a drink - I agree that you would beat us even with our best side out. Now up to 12 players so things looking up - virus sweeping through the squad forced us to cancel training this week (or maybe it was because it was Valentines Day - I really am getting soft!)
Blue Boy - I take it you meant quiet rather quite, but yes you are right - seeing how easy Hotpoints run in is against ours has sent me into a depression from which I may never return - send the trophy down to Woodston now - we're all doomed - runners up is not so bad though I suppose! - but then what about Moulton?
Will do my best Spec. I'm due a goal. Only got one this season on Saturday's which is poor for someone with my height. Got 2 in 2 weeks on Sunday's tho (only lowly division 4) but hopefully will spurn a goal for Saturday.
Obviously the pressure is off us, although we still have hopes for a top 3 finish and will battle for as many 3 points as we can get, plus coming off the back of a fine win last week, it will definitely be an interesting game.......
Moulton Vs Hotpoint will end 1-1
Thanks Hyppia, seeing your recent predictions I can now rest assured we won't draw !!!

Got 2 in 2 weeks on Sunday's tho (only lowly division 4)
Errrr hang on a minute mate, I recall a full on swan dive celebration for your 2nd goal...... cant be that "LOWLY" can it???
But it still doesn't quite eclipse Mr Ayres' antics on a Sunday in our "LOWLY" league, He really did believe the sun was beaming from his rear, we heard him jogging along telling himself and anyone else that would care to listen that he's the best on the park and have you ever seen a playa like me etc all 2nd half...
Laugh? we ****ed ourselves - although he did score 2, so fair play really!!!
I do think it'll be a cracking game this Saturday and best of luck to all involved.
Oh and if anyone fancies playing "LOWLY" footy on a Sunday next season we will need a striker - our UCL lad is leaving to go live in America...
ASK Hypia, it's a laugh and a good set of lads!
Shameless plug over!
Sat will be a great game ,but it will not be the end of the world for either side if they lose ,there are alot miles to be run yet .
Mr Ayres ,Big head never just think he is one big wind up merchant !!!!!!!1

Mr Ayres ,Big head never just think he is one big wind up merchant !!!!!!!1
A wind up??? From a Sat Prem player in the LOWLY Sunday leagues ?? Never!!
Yeah we knew it was a wind up, point was the glee on his face whilst doing it was so funny....
Just a comical point  - no dig or disrespect intended lads....
I'll give you that one Spec, made me chuckle. although one week i was completely accurate with a couple of results. I'll accept your apology on Monday when we're discussing your 1-1 draw
I'll be hanging from a tree mate, know any good clairvoyants !!
Claire who??!! Must be one of your Saturday night exploits
And yes i do know what a clairvoyant is before anyone asks
I work in Insurance Fraud and we once had a clairvoyant claim for the loss of a ring. If she was that fantastic at her job, how would she ever lose anything???!!! :bst: CLASSIC
I might put in a claim after tomorrow's game, perhaps you should introduce a policy of footballer fraud, now there's a topic that could provoke interest.
Tommy you are very quiet these last couple of days, is the pressure getting to you ?

Sorry Spec - didn't want to interupt you 2 lovebirds.
Pressure - isn't that something to do with the gravity of a pint or something?
Off to the gym now for the 2nd time this week, then sharing a cheese baguette with Mrs.C - tomorrow its session on though regardless of the result so lock up your hamsters!

So you wont be worrying about the tractor boys getting their asses kicked tomorrow then Tommy?
Lovebirds??!! Can you sense the jealousy in the air as well Spec?
Going to the Gym Tommy? Have they intoduced the sitting down and watching birds machine? I've been designing the prototype for the last 5 years!
Good luck to all tomorrow. May the best teams win (or if we play crap, the luckiest!)

Hello Flynny - hey we're flying at the moment - unbeaten in 8, but it's been a while since we won at your place - can see a 1-1.
This gym lark isn't all its cracked up to be. I have worked biceps, triceps, insteps, outsteps, hammies, quads, mods, rockers and a whole host of other things I didn't know I had. Might have to sit out being on the bench tomorrow.
Talking of pressure, less than a month ago, I seem to remember a local manager of some standing saying that "pressure" and "local football" should never be seen together in the same sentence?
Not feeling anything right now, but for so long as we can afford to lose a game, then we don't have any "pressure" on us when we go out and play? even if and when we do, destiny of the league will remain in our hands so would have big time taken the current position at the start of the season.

The results yesterday proved if nothing else how proposterous people giving us the title earlier in the week was.
Crowland are a decent side, who I think will win the PFA Cup and though I think we shaded the game in terms of possession, territorial advantage and chances, Crowland will be by no means embarrased by the draw.
Very good win for Hotpoint. Title is still in our hands, but we now have to expect Hotpoint to win every game, which allows us just 1 draw, which I would say makes it even money each of 2?
I very much want to win the league in what is now the clubs last season, but at least if we don't, I now know that it will go to a good home which is very dear to me.
Great game yesterday and agree with Tommy that Ortonians had the lion's share of the possession and dominated during the first half hour with the best chance being Chappy saving at the feet of Glen Bolden when Glen should really have squared it for a tap-in. We came back into it towards the end of the 1st half and went in at 0-0. First part of the second period was fairly even and we carved out a great goal with a ball whipped in from wide and a tidy finish by Chippy. If anything we scored a bit too early cos we knew that Ortonians would push on to get the equaliser. It came with about 10 minutes to go and was a bit of a sucker punch because it only just crossed the line and we felt that we could have dealt with the corner better.
Neither keeper had much to do throughout the game. Baines fired over with a great chance at 1-0 and both teams could have nicked it at the end. I think the result in the end was fair. We were struck by a blow during the warm up 'cos Dean Clarke was struggling with his knee so we had to revert to a 4-5-1 rather than the favoured 4-4-2. In hindsight a draw was a good result for us but it's nice when both teams are disappointed that they didn't get the 3 points. Another tough one next week - Drove away! Not many easy games in this division.
