Anybody out there remember a big old centre forward named Jimmy Barron? He was in the Royal Air Force at RAF Wyton (Nr Huntingdon) and as well as playing at a very high standard of football for the Air Force he also played for Warboys Town, Ramsey Town and one or to other local clubs. He was your old style 6ft plus built like a brick built outhouse and had a good turn of speed.
Sadly Jim was killed as a result of a vehicle collision last week on the A1 up near Stamford (I beleive). His Funeral is being held in the village church at Wittering on Thursday 1st May 08 at 2pm.
I knew Jim personally at RAF Wyton, as I was involved with the football there and he was a big part of Wytons footballing success.
