There’s a treat in store for American Football fans this Sunday, with a double dose of Gridiron action taking place at Stanground College.
The Marshall Dodge sponsored Peterborough Saxons play their first game in the city since making it their permanent home this January, and will be looking to build upon a promising start to the season after winning two of their first three games on the road.
There is twice the pride at stake this Sunday, as the next generation of Saxons take the field to play their first ever game. Three years in the making, the youth team faces off against the Colchester Gladiators hoping to emulate the recent success of their senior team mates.
The Saxons are hoping to increase their fan base following their move to Peterborough, and General Manager Mark Kerr is keen to see a big turn out from the Peterborough public.
“Now the football season is coming to an end, there’s a big gap for sports fans who want to get behind their local team, and we’d love nothing more than to fill that void”
“There’s two great games in store, as well as halftime competitions, hot food and drinks available all day and even better, admission is completely free of charge, so it won’t cost you a penny to come along and cheer us on”
The action begins at 12:00pm with the Saxons debut Youth game and at 2:30pm the Senior team face the Milton Keynes Pathfinders hoping for a repeat of their 43 - 2 victory earlier this year.
