Seeing as none of our illustrious home nations qualified and how many of you like the occassional flutter, how about we share our thoughts and see if we can take the bookies for a bit of cash.
To get the ball rolling i fancy Turkey to turn Portugal over tonight, just had a go at 9/2 with Ladbrokes.

I reckon France to beat Romania and Holland to beat Italy. I just think the creativity of Holland will help them beat the Italians.

a france 3-0 win is on the cards i believe, with 14/1 ;)
Not going too well so far, made it worse last night by having a Germany Poland draw.
Tonight it's gonna be a France win and an Italian Dutch draw double, can't seem to get better than 5/1 anywhere. Let me know if you find better odds anywhere.
Going off on a tangent a bit, but anyone else reckon that if 140 British fans had been arrested last night the European press would have given it a lot more coverage than it had?

5/1 double sounds a good price, was 9/2 I think in Corals.

If having a punt then France/Holland double as italy are slow starters! After that back italy to win the tournament as they will prob be around 14/16-1.
Again, on a slightly differnet tangent back Bankable & Duke of Marmalade in a double for Royal ascot - Both around 5/2!!

If Cesc cant make any starting 11 the manager wants shooting - simple as... the boy's a genius and any team would have him almost 1st on their teamsheet!
Was glad Holland won as I managed to pick them in the Sweepstake, I tried to swap them with Spain and Germany as I hate 'Orange' but got stuck with them.

Xavi maybe but Cesc was one of the best midfielders in Europe 07/08 without a doubt and should start in any team in my opinion.
iniesta is a doubt for tonight's game ...
alonso struggles to get in for liverpool until benitez played Gerrard as support striker he never got a shout.
Fabregas plays week in week out and is consitently good!!!

You could be right! that silva though very impressed with him, also all this talk about the midfield with cesc and alonso i thought senna stood out in the middle of the park although they all played well! Hopefully Mr Strachan can do good on his scouting mission out there and bring frei back him and dario simic who have been quoted to be interrested in coming to paradise!

you might find golden boot will hit more than 5 in this tournament, its normally the ignored strikers that get a good start in these tournaments not people like villa, podolski and even imbrahi........ is off the mark!

I just looked who put the last message on and i knew it would be you! To be fair youre spot on shaun, out of all the sides ive seen in the tourny the dutch are the ones to beat. They may not be the most skilful but they are the most creative and their counter attack is first class. Not many teams can say they've scored 7 past the world cup finalists in their last 2 games! Personally i think its the presence of JVOH thats made all the difference!

well we managed to beat the French twice in qualifying and ran the Italians mighty close and lets behonest we have no skill really just an abundence of heart and great ethic, so really no wonder these 2 teams are struggling. Maybe the French waving the white flag already after all they do have some elderly players an well Malouda and Anelka are bloddy awfull!!:surr:
As for Italy im sorry Raph but even in the qualifying group i thought after the world cup win you started to look a lil flat bit like alot of the players had given all they could and won what they wanted i could be wrong but not as many great Italian players coming through now either.( Del Piero great example guy is a legend but has not had it for a few years now at the top level) Seems the tide is turning and like in alot of things Eastern Europe is were alot of players starting to come thru.
Wish i never started this thread now, think i've jinxed myself.
Not had one win so far and i am now resorting to putting larger bets on to try and recoup some of my losses.
Had quite a big punt on the Turkey Czech game ending in a draw, had just finished working out i was nearly evens for the tournament when those damned Turks went and scored a winner.
Apart from joining gamblers anonymous any tips?

i can vouch for sneeks bet by the way we agreed on 2-2 and were convincing our selves thru the whole game that we just needed to have 2 goals with 20 minutes to go and the game would come alive.

who's every one gone for in the big france Italy game then? Its good that both games are at the same time now, becuase if Romania had of beaten a weakened Dutch team then France and Italy had nothing to play for, so game on!!!!
Another night of Euro 2008, another loss.
Anyway can't give up now so tonight it's gonna be an Italy win and a Dutch/Romanian draw. I think im jinxing myself big time by decalring my bets beforehand, but im keeping at it!
By the way also lost on the US open golf playoff.

GROUP C PERMUTATIONS
The Netherlands have won Group C and will play the Group D runners-up in the quarter-finals.
Romania will qualify for the quarter-finals if they beat the Netherlands, eliminating France and Italy.
If Romania fail to beat the Netherlands, the winner of France v Italy will go through.
If France and Italy draw, a point against the Netherlands would be enough to send Romania through. France must win to have any chance of qualifying.
If France and Italy share a score draw (1-1, 2-2, 3-3 etc), Italy will go through if Romania lose (by any score). In this scenario, Italy, Romania and France will be level on two points each but Italy would have scored more goals in games between the 3 teams.
Romania will finish bottom of the group if they lose and France and Italy draw 2-2, 3-3 or 4-4. France will finish bottom if they draw 1-1 unless Romania lose 3-0 or by a four-goal margin.

got 10/1 on Podolski 1st goal on Betfair, thought that was an excellent price to be honest... small tipple on that and Germany HT/Portugal FT 33/1 Betfair and final score 3-1 and 3-0 Portugal at around 18/1 for small'ish stakes..
I'm sure to continue my amazing form so steer well clear of that lot hahaha...

Germany HT is there, just need Portugal to come back 2nd half for a 33/1 winner, makes it great viewing for me 2nd half, great game so far. Deco is awesome!

For your info BOTN a paper round does leave you with a good bit of money after expenses such as sweets etc.:)

Made the 2nd half enjoyable to watch and well worth the few pennies I put on.
I'm looking at the Ascot card today and have picked a couple out for a mate that's going... You can all with 100% confidence scratch these ones off the card as they have as much hope of winning as Sneeks has of winning on the 3rd of August (Bob Hope)...
1st race - Frankie Detori on Jet D'eau about 5/1
4th race - Bushman at 4/1
5th race - Amerigo at about 8/1.
Last race - Each-way bet at 25/1, Celtic Sun...

yourve got to give it to the germans they played well , schweinstiger had a good game as did deco , ronaldo disappointing though prob getting ready for the flight to madrid

I could be right for once! I thought they totally dominated last night against a very well organised dutch side, and i thought i was on to my 1st winner in the euros by backing £20 on russia at 7-2 until the dutch equalised in the last 5 mins!
Well theres always tonight and the odds are staked against the spanish, they havnt beat the italians in 90 yrs! Cant knock italy at 2-1 with the bookies get on it!:ndg:

well not been on here to say what i think will go on but i fancy Spain tonight with torres to score 1st and win 3-2 think spain will go 2-0 up and italians claw it back with spain scoring 3rd at end of game. Only say this as the Italians are missing 2 key players Gattusso and Pirlo, but the spanish aint the best at the back.

well i made a mistake that will make you all laugh, i put fabregas to score first 3-1 spain, then realised he wouldnt be playing.
though if that comes in i got 145 - 1
realised the error of my ways so have done two doubles on top all relying on the Spaniards! i have Torres 2-1 and Villa 2-1 got something like 25-1 for both on bet 365.
lol i gotta stop drinking i have fabs at 3-0 for £205 -1
then villa and 2-1 spain @ £45-1
then torres and 2-1 spain @45 - 1

Gone for Italy HT and Spain FT 40/1 (betfair) and the same in reverse just for a couple of quid, can see it being boring to be honest......
i just woke up what happened was it a thrilling game?
what a f-ing bore i am so glad Italy are out i dont think i could have managed to watch them once more let alone another final at 0-0 then penalties!
All the best to Spain they tried to take it to Italy but its hard to get passed a 10 man defense!

Italy were dire, no intent on trying to win the game, their main plan was to stop Spain playing and then hoof it to the big donkey up front when in possesion, was like watching wimbledon all over again, excellent watching Cesc score to put them out, best side won by a mile!
At least Italy got there though...

Harbs i fell asleep to and woke up thinking the game was over so onto teletext to see who won only i couldnt find the score. Turned tv back onto channel 3 and seen that it was just going to penalties.
Cant really attack the Italians for trying to defend as Rangers did it all season in Europe and it worked, but we do only have sub standard players were as the italinas are ment to be world class!!!:bby:

Shocking buddy i know! didnt see the game tonight but according to five live the russians didnt turn up, real shame really after the demolition job they did to holland i thought they could of gone all the way!

fabregas was quality once he came on ,plus xavi was awesome also guiza looked dangerous once he came on ,russia did look a bit nervous though, is this the year the spanirads break their duck , thought the lad silva looked quality throughout the tournament

Well im glad Spain are through as i fly out to Spain on Sun morning so means ill be in the bar out there to watch the final and it should be a cracking atmosphere. Think you are all underating the Germans to much, they are a much better defensive unit and organised side than Russia and have been here more than anyone else so i think it will be a very close call. Villa missing for spain will be a loss as he has given them so much upfront but can be sure both teams will have a go and it will fingers crossed be a good game.
My bet 1-1 and Germans to win in extra time. Would love to see spain win as the whole of spain will party and i will be there but i must go with my head!!:whs:

Cesc didnt have the best of games did he, which shows that when Villa's it they should put him up front with Torres and play Xavi and Sienna in the midddle
I thought Torres was awesome as well and deserved his goal as he ran his nuts off! Altho the Germans didnt really attack Spain much did they???
