Gents - with the news that Hotpoint social club is to close at the end of April are we seeing the terminal demise of the traditional "clubhouse" homebase for our Peterborough based local teams and a final move to "pub" homebases - those of us who have been around for long enough remember Brotherhoods, BRSA, Phorpres, Thomas Cook and Mitchells to name just a a few- are these after game destinations finally likely to be consigned to the past?

Spec- with your on field expectations so high what does this announcement mean for your club in the future? Certainly you will have to find a new after match watering hole, what about funding? Hope you are already in discussionms to take your "business" elsewhere! (Perkins still have a "traditional" post game clubhouse :bst: )

Tommy, adds a bit of spice into the equation doesn't it? Might not be the only club leaving at the end of the season? :soo:

Sorry Bluestar for the late response but not had the best end to the week or weekend come to that, as for the club closure there have been rumours for at least a month mate so we weren't too surprised to hear it and obviously we have already looked into contingency plans, early days yet but as it stands now there will not be a Hotpoint football club next season, whether we change our name or not and find a new base (which hopefully is already being sorted) remains to be seen. We have a commitee meeting Tuesday night to decide what we do and I'll let you know what's happening, obviously gutted but more dissappointed with the attitude of Hotpoint as a company, we had our end of season do and race night booked there and they haven't even the decency to honour them, could be worse though mate I know of loads of birthdays and anniversary do's booked there as well that they are not honouring, they really won't come out of this looking very good at all, but that's big companies for you,one swipe of the pen and you are no more.

Spec, a good friend of mine has given 20+ years of his life to running the club and I just think it stinks that the Hotpoint parent company, Indesit can do as they have done with little or no regard to the hundreds of people who derive pleasure from the club and its facilities.
Guess we shouldnt be surprised though mate, it is endemic at the moment, and not just big companies, we are having our own little battle with the FDC over improvements to our "wonderful" clubhouse at Whittlesey - in our case it seems to me that local councils have forgotten what they are in office to do - serve the people.
Good luck for the rest of the season, and a sincere wish that your club finds a new base and thrives :uk2: .

Thanks Bluestar, we do appreciate your support but the thing that gripes the most is the b*****t that's coming out of the company, all that rubbish about security risks they put in the ET, the club is totally fenced off from the factory and you still have to pass the main security gates to get to it anyway. They haven't even had the decency to tell the staff who have been made redundant what the plans are for the site either.
As for the bit in the ET about helping us find an alternative site well listen to this, at the beginning of October they gave us 3 weeks notice to move our washing machines out of the old changing rooms before they demolished them, they said they had no room to house them anywhere on their site (which is bloody massive if you've never been there). My point to this is if they can't find room on their huge site for a couple of washing machines then what chance a whole bloody clubhouse !!
Still at least they gave Posh 300k at the start of the season.....
