All this optimism for FC bauer is surely misplaced - Never beat a top 4 side in the prem and from What I hear they never will!

Westwood to win by 2!!

Interesting mis-use of capital letters leads to your statement lacking both weight and authority!

I have to say it's surprising me also..
But if you're happy to put your money where your mouth is Foggy, I'll have a little wager with you, that we do beat at least 1 'top 4' prem team this term - you can choose your top 4 teams if ya like - DEAL?

Shame you cant be there to watch it Foggy...

Cheers Paul, and to you mate...
We're hoping to field an almost full strength team this Sunday for the 1st time since last season...
Pre-season (as you saw) has been VERY up and down for us, with some terrible injuries and lads missing from work etc, been tougher than I've seen in my time at Bauer!
Still got 4 out injured, but to be fair 2 of those are new lads!

Saying that, The lads, Micky B and I are defo looking forward to it..

I feel it will be a win for Westwood even though I know they are short of players and I think Bauer will struggle to take any points off the top 3 this season (Westwood, Racing & Netherton) so for a change I will have to agree with JNE!! Roll on next week when we play Westwood!!!

Westwood 3- 1 Bauer
Sorry Raph and Sean, I am pleased you are both very excited about playing Westwood but even when they are short of players they are a quality side. sorry chaps anyone who is not part of Bauer cannot foresee any other result but a Westwood win, good luck to Bauer I hope you do well.

Fratelli's 2-1 Lime tree
Should be a very good game, both quality sides.

Netherton 4-1 Shoes

Should be an easy win for Netherton but really does depend on what mod the shoes are in as they can give anyone a decent game on their day.

They have some quality players but are not that well organised!

Moe, in the predictions league a fair few are predicting an upset (and I agree it would be an upset) so it's not just lads within Bauer....
We're just glad to be a part of games like these to be honest, as the season progresses I'm sure the novelty will have worn off and the results will be of the upmost concern!

JNE... fancy that wager then? name your top 4 and I'll have an even score or something that we beat at least one of them... if you're happy to state on here we wont beat em then it's easy money for you mate? hope you got a result today regardless mate?

Netherton won 5-1!

2-2 in a contraversial game. westwood suffered 2 red cards and to be fair I agreed with both as they were stupid fouls/challenges... we were 2-1 up with 4 mins left and conceded a goal from a long throw, gutted not to win it in the end but if 2-2 was offered before kick off then I guess we'd have took it....
See you next Sunday Hairy as we play you...

moe
14-09-2008, 13:32
Sean, It was a decent game and both Westwood players rightly deserved to go but so did your player who did the blatant kick next to the sideline, and yes I did ref a decent game last week thankyou, but I will know the world has gone mad when you write something that is firstly un-biased and secondly that is not full of S***...........
Well done to the westwood lads who did not lose their heads even after the sendings off and to the bauer lads who worked very hard throughout the game.
Although I was disappointed in Raph, he did not hit anyone today..

Back of the Net
14-09-2008, 13:39
hahaha... Karl did kick the lad and could have walked, He was subbed as a result following his Yellow card, it was a late challenge nothing more... Westwoods 2 reds were different gravy, one VERY blatant off the ball foul and the other for repeated fouls and mouthing off...
Moe, if anyone's full of it, it's you mate, after our game last week you reckoned we'd get battered this week and 'our squad aint good enough' etc, you saw the game today and we deserved the point at least - and show me any manager/player that isn't biased towards their team? you're a good ref mate but I sometimes wonder what games you are actually watching hahaha....

Be good to get some opinion from Foggy and Joe etc....?

Ross
14-09-2008, 14:35
Well i was debating writing a match report, but to be honest, after spending the last few hours in the Westwood, i think ill leave it till later, or let Raph or someone else do it

Was a good game, and i think that there perhaps should have been 3 reds in what was already a colourful game. Fair play to the Westwood lads who didnt let their heads go down, except for Joe, who got booked for a silly tackle

Overall a good game by all, just a shame about the red cards

carefree
14-09-2008, 15:35
2-2 with westwood down to 9 players.... ummmm good result for twb i think!!!

maybe if 1 or 2 more were sent off you could have won by the odd goal???

Back of the Net
14-09-2008, 16:43
like it Al, of course the 2 reds helped us no end and we're gutted not to have won under the circumstances, but fair play to the Westwood lads who really threw everything at us last 20 mins or so...
Maybe Foggy, Joe, Raph etc will do a write up for us? I'm just to biased to do it haha!

new blue boys
14-09-2008, 16:57
so at what point was they down to the 9 men sean, with 20 mins to go. if so they have done very well to get any sort of result. before the gane im sure you would of taken 2-2 but you must be disapointed with it looking back at it

Back of the Net
14-09-2008, 17:52
They went down to 9 men with about 20 mins to go (I think), we then went 2-1 up with 4 or 5 mins to go with a good goal, but during that time it really was end to end.
When we scored I have to say we thought we'd won it and yeah we're dissapointed not to have taken advantage, but before kick off I suppose we'd have taken a point if offered to us...
The Westwood lads and supporters were quality, good banter and apart from the cards it was a great game with good football at times from both sides...

i think the constant emap complaints over swanny's performance against the limetree last season did them the world of good yesterday!(sean/mick have you been taking lessons off sir alex?) both teams battled well but i feel the weswood boys would've won quite comfortably in the end after troy had come on had they had 11 men. danny had a little kick at raph which to the letter of the law is a red but a bit of common would have been a yellow and last chance word in his ear. scott on the other hand should never had gone, he'd only slightly overran the ball and missed it by millimetres. that said i agree with your keeper only getting a yellow as he had a defender coming behind. scott saved a point for you with 2 great saves when the westwood were down to 9 men too so great credit goes to both sides.

Back of the Net
15-09-2008, 08:15
of course with 11 men we'd have been right up against it... the 1st red I dont think anyone can argue it was daft but it was a red unfortunately...
The 2nd one followed numerous warnings to the player in question who persistantly gobbed off to Swanny and had numerous sneaky trips/kicks on our lads, he was warned 3 or 4 times that I watched and for me it was only a matter of time before he walked, We subbed Karl as he was on a deserved yellow and we knew he risked walking, maybe Westwood could have spotted and done the same for their man?..
Scott did make 2 good saves but so did the Westwood keeper and we had 2 or 3 go just wide etc, it really was end to end last 20 mins and could have finished 5-5 or something..
I must say I thought the Westwood lads were superb in the finish, really battled hard and showed what it means to them to play for their club, support etc was excellent!!

wtfamu
15-09-2008, 08:42
That is very nearly a fair reflection of the game BOTN.

Can't remember the Westwood keeper making anything more than a couple of routine stops from weak shots however.

Thought Swanny definately favoured Bauer throughout the game and even though Scott was a bit of an irritant throughout, the offence he got his second yellow for wasn't deserving of a booking. Then again i thought Joe was a little fortunate not to walk with five mins to go as was the lad from Bauer who got subbed.

As i intimated on Saturday the Westwood are not gonna do their abilities justice unless they get themselves a little more organised. Think their number 1 priority has to be to get a keeper and not just throw the gloves to whoever draws the short staw.

Overall a draw was a fair result, but giving the circumstances Bauer must be kicking themselves!

JNE
15-09-2008, 08:49
Morning all - am suffering this morn from a dicky belly and did not go out last night so must have been from something I eat from the father bbq.

Gotta say that yesterday was a poor show (apart from the LW fans) with both teams poor although westwood done extremely well to get a point with 9 men!

Sean, Bauer looked very poor and no real quality although both goals were decent. Westwood will be brillant or poor but agree we need a keeper and I believe Lee crane is signing and he is top draw!!

Was a eventful day and swanny again was poor - Maybe watching posh affecting his views!! Fair result though and feel we will run it close but lack consistency to win the league but cups are within our grasp!!

Admin
15-09-2008, 09:14
Foggy - not sure what game you were watching, but to say that we looked very poor is a little harsh. Fernand on the left wing did very well, Kev and Dean worked hard against a team who dominate in the air. Our keeper played the majority of the game with a bad thumb and a poorly toe. It was no classic, but it never will be on a pitch that needed mowing and when the opposition have some good fans in full voice.

At the end of the day, it was my error that gave Lord Westwood the opportunity to win a pen and otherwise we should've won against 9 men.

If you all don't like our manager (who has our full support), then talk about him - but don't reflect your dislike for him on the rest of our team.

First red Danny lashed out and by letter of the law should go. Second red (for 2 yellows) a little harsh. You can never accuse Swanny of favouring our side; there were plenty of 50/50 (generally I was involved in) that went against me.

It appears that many want us to fail. The only people I will listen to is Ben Lawrence, Joe Duffy and Troy - the people who played against us and gave us the best plaudits. As for everyone else? We want to survive in this league in our first season and not pull up any trees.

Ross
15-09-2008, 10:09
Still think Swanny made a mistake by not walking your lad though Sean. If he sent Danny off, your lad should have also been sent for an early shower.

Swanny must have a good memory though, as he didnt write anyones names down :clown:

You ran a good line Ross! Do you agree with Foggy's comments that we were poor?

Ross
15-09-2008, 10:31
I do and i dont. I think when the westwood went down to 10 men, you didnt really capitalise on it. Even then when they went down to 9 and to let the westwood get their second goal, straight after youd scored wasnt the best period of play in my eyes. Looking back on it, i think the westwood had plenty of chances near the end to make the game theirs, but unfortunately they didnt take those chances. You had a couple of chances, scored from 2 of them, other than that, im struggling to think of another time you tested their keeper.

All in all, a draw was probably a fair result

Admin
15-09-2008, 10:42
I tested him with a volley that registered 0.5 on the richter scale! Haha, a lot of our attack play will improve as we build in confidence. Our full backs need to start getting forward more in my eyes and this will improve our attack - although yesterday they had their hands full with two nippy wingers.

Raph dont rise to it mate, leave that to me hahaha.... A draw was fair in the cicumstances I''d agree Ross...
Still waiting for that bet Foggy, if we're so poor it's easy money for you, just pick your top 4 teams and we can have an even few beers on it if nothing else mate?

Mick B
15-09-2008, 11:55
Foggy I think your sunglasses were a little dark, thought both of our goals were very well worked and excellently finished. nothing poor about them, both of Westwoods goals had good fortune in them, the first that Raph decided he was Maldini and the second Scott was very unlucky with. Danny was daft and perhaps that early in the game a yellow may have been better, letter of the law says red though. Karl was very very lucky only to see a yellow, Scott recieved a yellow for retaliation. Scott did push his luck a little after that and had a lot of trouble keeping quiet. In our wisdom we took Karl off because we believed he could be a liability. Absolute credit to the Westwood lads for their spirit and effort, it was outstanding and they could have nicked it. Yes I was disappointed we threw it away but if honest would probally have settled for a draw before we kicked off. Just wish Foggy had been playing sweeper. Again in the end the Westwood lads EARNED their point, nothing comes easy in this league. Both linesman were excellent and I don't think Swanny favoured anyone. This is our first season in this league and we don't have many lads who play premier league football on Saturdays so at times I thought our lads played some great football. Personally I thought Westwood played a lot better when they went down to 10 as is often the case. Look forward to our home game against them, in no way was it a nasty game for most it was played in a sporting but competitive manner and full marks to the Westwood supporters.

Hardly Maldini, I only just made it past the 18 yard box before giving it to their attacker!

15-09-2008, 14:44
As I said sean your lot did work very hard and I was impressed by the amount of effort you all put in, as for "a late challenge nothing more" not a chance he chased him knew he was not going to get anywhere near that ball and played the lads ankles no doubt about that at all and should have gone. Raph had anexcellent game apart from that moment of madness, It was more Rio Ferdinand than Maldini, Maldini would have come away with the ball, I also agree with mr B that the westwood did play better with 10 men. oh and Ross you did do well, ugly shirt though.
