"Trials with Northern Star" Would be nice if he came to training to have a trial.

oh no we have another Foggy on our hands, an aversion to training for Saturday football haha...
seriously though, Raph and I have his number if you need to reach him but it's between you boys I suppose.
Good to see PNS going well by the way!

it's my fault he hasn't been to training. I was supposed to roll him down, but cancelled last minute two weeks in a row. He will be down Weds.

Spoke to Fernand last night and yesterday after watching him a certain person from PNS approached him and asked him to play, personally i dont believe the lad is good enough as he never got in Whittlesey at first team or reserve team level but i wish him all the best.
Thank PNS for that courtesy call it was much appreciated and done it the right manor. Oh wait once agian no call was made by them. Still until the rules change you have done nothing wrong so :blh::blh::blh::blh::blh:

If he was coached well and helped with his 'end product/delivery' I think he'd be good enough for that level, he's got the pace, fitness and ability without a doubt - He just needs guidance on final ball etc..
Personally I hope he gets it as he's a sound lad and would develop well if given decent coaching etc (cue the Bauer coaching jokes haha)

If you want the facts Number 9, PNS were actually aproached by someone connected to Fernand and asked if they could bring him training. PNS never approached the player and therefore felt no need to contact you at Whittlesey.

ResMan your missing the point because you are allowed to do this anyway, just courtesy.
PNS Reserves what sort of standard is this in comparison to Peterborough Prem?

Who was this who contacted you by intrest

I'm not missing the point Number 9. I just get really tired of everyone having the digs at PNS. We do work to a different set of rules but, certainly in the reserves, I like to think we do everything the right way. The person that contacted me isn't involved in either club.

Just been imformed this person is Raph? is this correct? Just wondered how you would feel if your reserve team players were approached without you knowing as again it is legal?

Number 9.... I think Resman has made it clear, it seems Fernand approached them and it seems Rapha helped Fernand with this, which is within both their rights to do so I hasten to add.
PNS shouldn't be blamed if people approach them, either directly or indirectly should they... Different if they went after him but in this case I dont see that they did after hearing Ferdys take on it Sunday morning..
Out of courtesy perhaps Ferdy could/should have called your lot, but he's knew to the area and may not be aware of which teams play by what rules etc.. Has he even started a game for your lot out of interest?

I'm going to train with PNS too, does that make me anti-SSPIO? I am Fernand's friend and think he has potential that is not being currently exploited. He is a player that thrives on confidence and needs to be in the right place for that to happen. No. 9 - you are forgetting that he left SSPIO to join Whittlesey, so should I be remorseful about him possibly leaving you to join PNS? Think not! Shay, we'll be there Weds.

Ironic this subject lads as i am sure we have had this convo time and time again.
I do admit tho lads i agree with No9 on this one its just respect to contact the team and let them no you are looking at the player regardless if the player has contacted you or not.
Raph you no the rules and being as Fernand is your friend maybe you could have guided him instead of playing Devils advocate!!
BOTN im sure had rolls been reversed and you were in No 9 postion you would feel the same. Regardless if he has started a game or not he was still part of the teams plans.
RESMAN lets be fair when respect is gained you get the respect you are due, unfortunally this is not the 1st time PNS have been involved in this sort of trait and im sure it will not be the last.

Oh and to throw 1 in there i was informed buy a certain individual that Fernand was supposadly signing for PSL also. To which i contacted whittlesey straight away to here if there was any truth in this from there end. Still not sure about these rumours as Whittlesey dont seem to no much about it but if he were to join us i would welcome the signing.

At what point did he sign for you then Raph?

As regards to respect, i remeber a certain person last year moanimg about his Sunday Players being asked to play Saturday without notice. I aint bothered Raph i knw it was you anyway just wondered if you would come forward straight aeway?

Still with friends like he's made in the local artea im sure he will also end up with a host of different track suits?

I am always open and honest. He signed for us No.9 and then I tore-up the reg form when he said that he wanted to play at the highest level that he could . . . which at the time was Whittlesey.

Harley, only kidding :)

Number 9
29-09-2008, 11:32
Open and honest that means actively encouraging someone to move clubs?
Thank god we are all not open and honest? A team does not consist of 11 players and Fernand would of got hip chance the same as everyone else. Im sure SSPIO have players on there bench that could play elsewhere, so looking forward to having a week olff and coming down to watch Raph. Think next week but 1.

No disrespect but dont believe you or Fernand are good enough for Northern Star. Is it a charity training session?

Very good lads, obviously a hot topic...
Number 9 - FYI mate, it was last year I had a conversation about our players being approached directly, 3 or 4 of our lads were approached after one of our games on a Sunday morning with the person in question simply turning up and asking them all without mentioning it to me at all, now that I felt warranted a courtesy call/conversation etc but that was all and it was posted as very tongue in cheek as we all laughed about it... bit different to someone you signed 2 or 3 weeks ago approaching another club of his own back maybe?

Shaun, as ever good banter mate.. Nobody can stop players looking elsewhere if they want too, if a lad approaches another club and that club didn't have to tell me within the rules, then what can I do? I'd be gutted, but blaming the club isn't on in my opinion as they've done nothing wrong, maybe the player in question has a duty to speak up but the club they go too can't be expected to check and then run around doing their work - just my opinion - I've no idea what PNS have done previously so only commenting on this one as Ferdy plays for us...

You are getting very angry about a player that is apparently not good enough to be playing in any of the teams mentioned? !!

Yes No. 9, it is a charity session, maybe you should come down too.

Maybe have a word with Fernand who is moving clubs and not the friend who put him in contact with a club closer to home?

You are more than happy to come down and have a look at my players too Mick . . . we need the extra support after an indifferent start to the season . . . if they want to leave, then they will do so with a handshake from me wishing them all the best.

moe
29-09-2008, 18:59
He is a decent player as anyone who has seen him play will testify but ucl I do not think so, but some players learn quicker than others and some play better with better players so we shall see, I wish him all the best and hope he does very well.
As for the whole PNS stealing players and should or should they not inform his side they going to sign him, maybe a little bit more respect from the players themselves would be in order and they should tell their manager before hand.

Admin
30-09-2008, 09:21
Exactly. If a player chooses to train with a club, do they also need a letter from his parents? !! PNS are not at fault here at all, for being good enough to let people train with them. IF HE THEN WANTED TO SIGN, then they can contact his club.

Number 9
30-09-2008, 10:58
again Raph we'll agree to diss agree because no player connected to another club trains with us without the other clubs prior permission. The reason being the club spend alot of money insuring everyone connected so that if in the event of any injury, they are covered for some finacial gain.As im aware not many clubs do this so for them it doesnt matter

Admin
30-09-2008, 11:07
I suppose it depends on which indemnity you have. The point I am trying to make, is that PNS didn't make any error in this case. A player trains at his own risk and they have made no commitment to sign him, therefore he is still technically a Whittlesey player.

Number 9
30-09-2008, 11:10
but he injures himself training with PNS abd we do not cover him? Do they?

Admin
30-09-2008, 11:12
No, he will have no cover, lose his job and go back to the streets of Wolves!

Number 9

every cloud has a silver lining i suppose. Do all clubs have players insurance or is it rare at this standard?

Admin
30-09-2008, 11:22
I think that it is strongly advised by the PDFL and PSMFL; if you are an FA Charter Standard Club, then I think it is compulsory as part of your Code of Conduct.

Number 9
30-09-2008, 11:34
i thought insurance for a team was a must but players insurance is quite expensive so thought many clubs opted against it. The more that have it the bette. Personally for me i wouldnt play for a club without it because after breaking my foot 8 weeks ago and still not returning to work yet, you need an income from somewhere?

Back of the Net
30-09-2008, 12:04
Within the Sunday leagues you get Public Liability Ins as standard when joining, this only covers you as 3rd party IE: if you injure a member of the public or wreck their house etc then they cover you.
You dont HAVE to have team insurance and we dont as it's just too expensive, I advise ALL my players to take out personal insurance which can be as little as £70 - £100 a season especially if they are self employed.

30-09-2008, 13:03
Has anyone looked into this at the FA level. Allegedly the Northants FA, had it read to me in a letter from a former club, have said that the FA stipulate that a team still need to give seven days to a club even if in a completely separate league? If anyone has time to look into this properly maybe it can be put on here as a sticky so people know the score.

Just back from a little R&R, left the boy in charge and think he will make a manager yet, early days but early signs are promising, and think we might have, with the boys help, made one or two very very good signings this season. :sm:

Fernand sent me several texts over the week end, pity he didn't realise I was on Jamaican time - no problem, informing me that he felt he needed to move on to further his football career, and I thank him for contacting me and fair play to him for doing so - there are one or two I know who could learn a few manners from him.

I have absolutely no problem with him or anyone else moving on, if that is their wish, and forget any rules, a little common courtesy does it for me, but then I am old school......

I have to say I have a lot of time for him both as a player and as a person. The story is unfortunately, he initially joined the club to play for the 1st team , and as Humpy didn't feel he would be able to keep a place in the firsts, he came and played a couple of games for the ressies.
I had already made a number of new signings, with a squad of sixteen and six new faces it was always going to be a tough ask and although he is very fit and also quick he wasnt, in my opinion, better than the lads I had earmarked for the position he favoured.
I wish him all the best wherever he decides to play, and there will always be a welcome back at Whittlesey for him at any time.
