Fantastic achievementet by Tom and everyone involved in lifting the title again.
The pressure was on with wins in all the last four games required but the lads never faltered and thoroughly deserve to be champions and what a way to finish the history of Ortonians in the Peterborough League.
Unlucky perhaps for Spec and his players but in all honesty the best team in the league this season have lifted the title as is always the case.
I could not help but see in the photos above how miserbale Paul Crowson looked and I can only think how things come home to roost. I do not include the first team players or the two manager in that as they are great bunch.
Just make sure we go and give a good account of ourselves against St Neots on Monday and have a fantastic day lads
Well done to Tommy and Ortonians. Equally well done to Spec and his players for their efforts this term. Also added special thanks to Paul Young getting to the game to cover the title decider. Thanks Paul

Obviously got a load of things I would like to say and it might take a few posts to get through them, so please indulge me if you will: -
1. What a place to go and win the title and what a game. Full credit to Moulton for their determination to make us win the league the hard way - leaving no-one back for a corner near the end was suicidal! With all due respect to Hotpoint in my time at Ortonians it has generally been Moulton pushing us the hardest in league and cup. After the game the large majority of the players and all of the management team were very gracious. It will be interesting to see where Moulton go from here as a number of players are reaching the last few laps of their careers.
2. Hats off to Hotpoint for their magnificent season - this win is far better than the one 2 years ago because of the pressure Hotpoint have put us under - they are unbeaten since xmas (only 2 draws). Spec & John Hastings were incredible after the game with their praise etc. Last year I gave Lee Minett a card and a bottle of champagne when Whittlesey won the league, but these 2 guys went way beyond that and anything I think I am capable of. Great rendition of Sweet Caroline in the Carpenters Arms Crowland as well Spec
3. Thank you for all of your voice and text messages last night (Gino, Al Lenihan, Al Brown, Nicky Robinson, Matt Barker, CJ, Matt Rayson, Foggy, Dave Willis, Mark Chambers, Billy Burton and probably some others I have forgotten) - they were very appreciated. Good to see Birdy, Ian Bradshaw, Dave Hart, Roland Dean etc. at the game as well yesterday - no doubt they are as made up as me. Expect that the ex-Ortonians guys now at Hotpoint who were at the game are saving their good wishes until the Oak game today?
4. Finally the players. The best bunch I have ever worked with by a mile.(though the worst drinking team!) We were lucky with injuries this season (Foggy apart) which was good with such a small squad, but the team spirit has been incredible. On Tuesday against PSL we put in what I have accepted was a very nervy performance which made me concerned about going to Moulton needing to win. However, from the moment we turned up (at about 11 o'clock!) I got a good vibe from the guys who were very upbeat and confident. They played that way as well in what was a very disciplined manner and I think 2-1 was a fair result. Hope they enjoyed themselves last night - I was home at about 10.30 wanting to just chill out with a Chinese and a glass of Port - fell asleep in front of the TV as usual though!
Well done Tommy, the team, and everyone involved at Ortonians. Just a pity it has to end. I know I haven't been about much this season, as I've enjoyed being "abused" as a ref in the Northants Combination, but I couldn't be more pleased to see what the team have done.
While I feel partly responsible for the club folding, it is fantastic to see us finish on such a high note. Shame we were denied the "Peterborough" double, but let's see if we can look after the Hunts Cup as well for the next year.

Thanks Chris - will see you on Monday and I understand that you are in for the Golf as well.
I think you are being a bit harsh on yourself re the club folding. Even though I have only been involved for the past 3 seasons, I would say that it was a collective and correct decision made by 7 sensible adults all accepting that nothing lasts for ever and that going out with a good reputation rather than experiencing a slow lingering death was definately preferable.
As for Monday's game with St.Neots we go there with realistic ambitions against a side from 2 levels higher and as CJ said, I just hope that we put up a good show, which wasn't the case against Yaxley in last years final. I have watched them a couple of times and whilst they are strong favourites we certainly have a chance and nothing to lose
Appreciate that Tommy, thank you. Having played on both the winning side and losing side for Ortonians in Hunts Cup Finals against UCL opposition, I know it will not be easy, and that everyone will have to play well if we're going to win. I also know that you've been doing that most of the season, so it's quite possible.
Yes, I will be there cheering you on, and delighted there will be no line-dancing(!). Pity I didn't sign on this season, as my legendary pace is still there; but then I'm not sure who you would have dropped to bring me in for the game - Baines I suspect.
Good luck to everyone.
P.S. Wonder why it took me so long to join in this game? I'd forgotten this was a forum for old gits as well.

Should also say well done to the guys who work with me - Robbo for his advice on the sideline - certainly made the difference against Leverington away and for looking after the side for the 4 games I missed - the point against Hotpoint proved decisive in the end. Thanks to Wills for being the physio now and again when there was no ice hockey - thank god we didn't have too many injuries for "Doctor Death" to make worse! - thanks to Jeary for running the line when not in a coma and for the help from Lee & Carl's fathers and Dave Hart for the best cuppa in the league!
Sounds like an Oscar ceremony I know people but hey - we won the league don't you know!
Oh no it is going to go on for ages this back slapping. However who can blame them?. At the end of the day in the end it was deserved title win. It was great to see the likes of the Happy Hammer, Laid back Ayresie and Lee Davison get their just rewards for a great season and dare I say it excuses for the Physio to brag for months to come. Also Judgey for his input over the years at the club. Love him or hate him, alleast he has passion and I will miss his input. Good luck to you all. However I would like to thank my good friend Spec for ensuring a good season was enjoyed by all. Good to see that he joined in with the after title party and won as well. Roll on August. Have a good summer.
well done Ortonians for a good consistent year of football it was always going to be you or Hotpoint and you managed to get there well done again. i do not want to sound like im ruining your celebrations but i heard rumours saturday from a long sutton player they have been told they have been relegated is this true?

Where is the final and what time???
Final at Somersham 3:00 kick off. it would nice to see you there.
Bainsie if you're going to quote Tommy you have to finish it off by quoting Carl Harper, "The Titanic sank" and I suppose after today you can say it will be true of Ortonians, so lets go down in a style befitting a great club like Ortonians playing good football, defending like terriors and winning the bloody thing.
:pty:
Congrats to Bainsey and the boys
What a way to go out
Fair Play!!!!!!!!
