This is true - Ray Wilkins to take charge in the interim.

Can't say he was an amazing manager this season.

Avram Grant as Director of Football with Gus Hiddink as coach just been suggested on Sky Sports News...
I work next too Match magazine and they have a plasma screen with footy on it - result!

I would go for Zola & Clarke; West Ham need the cash they'd get from compensation.

Can't see Hiddink leaving Russia with a major tournament in just over a year.

Mancini and Rijkaard are still on the market too. I'd take Hughesy from Man City too.

personally thought chelsea have gone backwards whilst big scolari was in charge , i think rijkaard is nailed on to get it , maybe mancini or even klinsmann as outsiders .... dont think zola would jump ship just yet ...

I personally think Avram Grant should have been given more of a chance to prove himself after last season, especially considering most thought he wouldn't last more than a month at the helm. Although he got no trophies, he was extremely close on 3 fronts. Lost the Carling Cup in extra time, lost the Champions League on Pens (which they would have won had John Terry not slipped at the opportune moment) and lost the Premier League on the last day of the season.

I mean, how close can you get without actually winning anything?!

i agree hyypia, he didnt get a fair go.
i will be amazed if hiddink gets involved at all!
Clarke would be welcome back.
Zola is just a legend :D he can do what he likes.

Looks likely the new gaffer will be Ancelotti. The jury is out for me on him, even though he is Italian. Although he has won Serie A and the UCL, he is still the guy who forced Zola out of his club when at Parma . . . but then again their loss was our gain!

Surely Sven isnt a bad shout? There was lots of talk of him taking over at the Bridge when he was England coach.

Think this article gets it about right!

sums it up very well.....
If runners up in the Champions League (missed by a whisker), runners up in the league and FA Cup aint good enough for the Russian crook, then any managers going there know the score and are simply going for the crazy money on offer, just like all the players have been doing for some time now - it's a right mess...

Grant inherited Mourinho's team and changed nothing. Alas, the article asks for an archangel, so I suggest that I take the reigns at the bridge . . . Raphael, an archangel. Not sure what package would be on offer, but you'd have to put a 7-dayer in to Graham Phillips ;)

Grant inherited Mourinho's team and changed nothing.

Even so, inheriting the team doesn't guarantee him doing well. he still had to motivate the team and choose the match day line-ups, convey his tactics etc etc. I think he did a really good job and felt he should have been given a chance this season

If it aint broke, don't fix it :D

Sometimes the team are motivated sufficiently by each other and backroom staff (Steve Clarke). Look at England under Sven!

It gets better, check this quote out!

"It can't be a coincidence that the two most successful teams in England have some continuity in their staff. You don't want to sack a manager every year. First and foremost, you want some continuity" - Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon, December 3.

"You don't want to" . . . but sometimes have to.

Just like you don't want to go shopping with the missus when football is cancelled, but if you want to get something in return, then sometimes you have to!

"He (Abramovich) has now changed part of that investment from an interest-free loan into shares in the club, as a sign of continuing commitment to Chelsea. The move will also help defuse European criticism that Chelsea is a heavily indebted business, says BBC business correspondent Nils Blythe."
