Great win for the lads tonight- Following on from the win against Stamford Bels on Saturday the boys have just taken all three points from Perkins, doing it the hard way by coming back from a being 1 down to a George Goodayle goal to win 2:1 - Tremendous effort by the boys who worked so hard for each other, all played their part but in particular Gary Butterworth was outstanding

Hampton join Whittlesey on 6 points with a desaerved 2-1 win at Alconbury. Looking forward to Moulton Sat - will be a good game

Took in Oundle v Fletton this evening and Spec's boys were VERY impressive (sorry mate, missus collared me on the phone on the way home, so had to go home for peanut butter on toast and a cup of cocoa!).

First half they were rampant against a decent side on paper, that might benefit from a few positional tweaks. Favell & Baines to the fore with 6 goals and Matt Leftley scored a peach.

Seb scored (and celebrated!) his brace late on when Fletton eased off, but with a couple of additions Spec's top 4 ambition will be well and truly lower than where they will end up.

Might yet turn into a decent scrap for the title, despite the lack of strength in depth this year?

Would be interested to hear how Alconbury v Hampton went - if Alconbury lost I might be flogging a dead horse with my prediction rather than a dark horse.

Tommy, Hyppia has mentioned the Hampton scoreline on the last entry.

Maybe your still suffering "post Carling cup trauma" after your beloved tractor boys were humbled by the paupers from Peterborough.

Thanks Paul - think Foxy was posting at the same time as me.

Congratulations to Posh on beating our youth team on Tuesday night and I think that they will have a decent season this year.

jason de vos, nicky forster, fabian wilnis, dean bowdich, alex bruce and matt richards are hardly the ipswich youth team are they? they are just the players off the top of my head that i can remember so probably more 1st teamers were playing? i must admit though the youths that came on made ipswich a much better side.

was a very tight game at perkins, but in the end it came down to the team that wanted it more towards the end perkins ran out of steam where as whittlesey just kept going at them to the end. and it eventually paid of, a great result but still a long way to go.

Hey Blueboys - agree and no league has been won in the first two games of the season. However in my humble opinion last night Perkins played as what they currently are, a group of talented players, the challenge for Gino and Alex will be to form them into a team with some team spirit, cos I dont care how good you are without that spirit you won't win anything - and lets face it what we do have in Whittlesey is team spirit in spades!

Overall I thought that over 90 minutes you definately deserved the 3 points

On a more personal note I thought you, Paul and Wytchy had another great game - you certainly frustrated the hell out of Georgie, well done mate.
Oh and Mr Lenihan after seeing Butts last night what odds will you give me on your prediction that he will be gone by Christmas

The winning goal was scored by fluke, so if that hadn't happened and the game finished 1 -1 would the above comments be as similar?
lets face it that goal wasn't meant and we had a few chances to take the lead in the second half.
At the end of the day Whittlesey have been and after that showing are always going to be a difficult team to play but i wouldn't say you had more team spirit its harsh on any team to go behind to a goal that wasnt meant/caught you by surprise.
Well done on taking the three points but dont think you will be given 3 points at the manor.
good luck for the season.

Harbs, as I said buddy its all about opinions - thats what makes it the greatest game in the world - on that we can agree.

Havent made any predictions as to where we will finish - and fully expect Perkins to be there at the death, they have too many good players not to be, but dont expect us to stand still either, one or two players were missing on Wednesday, Maverick in particular, so at this early stage in the season things are going well. Have a great season, and above all enjoy it.

Al, our secrets out of the bag then - he should be cleared to play against Crowland tomorrow - news sure does travel fast!!!
"bothered" is probably too strong a word - amused more like cos Butts hasn't just signed this season - he has been signed on for a couple of years now, although his playing contracts prevented him from playing very often.... and if you knew him well enough you would know that his intention was always to come "home" to play with his mates - still a great player and head and shoulders better than anyone else on Wednesday. :sm:

it was a great game to be involved in and which ever team was to come out on top would be on here giving it a big one, i was just glad that after setting george up with my threw ball early on, that it didnt turn out to be costly. ifs and buts make great talking points in football long way to go feet still firmley on the ground maybe if you had put your chance away things would of been different

Yeah dammit i was hoping no one would bring that up!
Put it down to my first touch (as usual)
I do also agree that its all about opinion and you are right im sure the talk would have been started off by a Perkins player but it wasnt to be. good weather for a tough game though i enjoyed it once i got on :P

Great win for for Whittlesey, great start and nice to get three points against the new Galactico's of the Pboro Prem!

Couldn't make the match on Wednesday as was watching the Villa, but from what i've been told, great performance and a great win. All the lads are very satisfied with the start they've made but are well aware that the long task is ahead.

Hopefully the Reserves can get off to an equally good start away to Werrington Reserves tomorrow!

BTW Harbs, spoke with Jamie Lazenby earlier who definitely meant that goal! Sour grapes and all that!

COME ON WHITTLESEY!!

Well as you weren't at the game i think me standing 10 yards away from the attemted control is the better observation. any ways like i said well done on getting the 3 points i am bitter that we lost but there is always the return visit not gonna bull **** and say im not p1ssed off about it because i am but tomorrow i am hoping we will work out the kinks and go from there.

Ok, difference of opinion, Jamie is a straight as they come and if he says to me he meant it he meant it.

Fair play for your honesty.
