It’s double the fun at Stanground College this Sunday as the Peterborough Saxons Youth and Senior Teams face off against the visiting Norwich Devils in a gridiron double header.

It’s the opening game of the season for the Seniors, their first in Division 1 of the British American Football League and expectations are high as the Saxons give debuts to several new signings and find themselves spoilt for choice with some top level American talent arriving at the club this off season.

Following pre-season victories in Leicester and Munich, Head Coach Charles O’Neal is confident in his team’s ability to cut it in the big league, meanwhile Offensive Co-Ordinator Gary Van Zandt promises an explosive performance from his new look unit.

Similarly, new Defensive playcaller Sean Gray will be looking for a shutout from his players on their competitive debut after conceding just 13 points in exhibition games so far.

Also in action on Sunday are the U19’s who will be looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat in their season opener. Two missed scoring opportunities were enough to put the game beyond reach, but there were promising signs for the young guns who can get their season back on track with a victory over their opponents this weekend.

Games get underway at 12:00 with the Senior team kicking off at 2:30. Admission is free and refreshments are available throughout, to find out more visit www.thesaxons.co.uk (http://www.thesaxons.co.uk)
