Raunds f.c sent a reserve side but the others rothwell & burton park were their 1st teams,
added 2 that we also beat a full yaxley side pre-season with real ease!!! they 2 cld b heading 2 UCL 1

Well i think it was the start of last season when Moulton played Bourne Town and Holbeach in preseason friendlies. We beat Bourne 4-0 if i can recall, and lost to Holbeach 3-1, conceeding off 2direct freekicks and missing a penalty.
Think the reason why Prem teams are beating UCL sides is because alot of players in the Prem are more than capable of playing in the UCL league.
Many congratulations to the Peterborough Sports boys for their whooping of Burton Park Wanderers. Having refereed UCL Division 1 football last season BPW are one of the teams that contest the wooden spoon each year!!
The football is about the same level with most top Peterborough league teams being of the same ability, if not better then, some lower half UCL 1 teams.
The only problem is the lack of facilities in Peterborough. No permanent surround around the pitch and changing facilities would hold back most teams if they wanted to progress in the football pyramid. Also, floodlights are the norm at most UCL Div 1 teams now.

wooden spoon team eh paul? well we beat this mid table wooden spoon team 6-1 :soo:
so if most of ucl 1 teams are of poor standard and no better then pboro prem sides why did u leave 4 it???? was it 4 easier games yeah? more money?? or 2 progress???
maybe floodlights r the norm paul but not they r needed 2 play in ucl 1
at least we in the pboro prem div have 2 fight for the title each year up to 6 six can win it this season. in ucl 1 there is always 1 run away leader.
much much better football and standard in THE PBORO PREM DIV. :dsc:

I'm sure that many of the top teams would hold their own in the UCL Prem let alone Division 1.
Looking at some of the UCL games this season, the quality and commitment doesn't seem to be there. Maybe that is down to the players only worrying about the number of £'s they will be putting in their back pockets at the end of the 90 mins.

Burton park are much improved from the last few years, that was a shock result, and i would guess at a mid table finish for them.
maybe floodlights r the norm paul but they r not needed 2 play in ucl 1
They will be for new entrants

There hasnt been for the last 3 years (Goal difference won it in 2004/05)
much much better football and standard in THE PBORO PREM DIV.
Havent seen much football in Peterboro Prem. Unfortunately facilities play a bigger part than playing strength in deciding promotion from step 7 to step 6

at the top of UCL 1, Sleaford and Whitworths arent paid, dont know about Kempston and Northern star

feck me it stato
Good win for you,
but is no good quoting inaccuracies ;-
The wooden spoon issue regarding Burton was relating to last seasons position and I havent seen them this season. (and I wasnt taking anything away from Peterborough Sports achievements)
I left the Peterborough league for the UCL Premier Division and to run the line on the Contributory League. This is the natural progression path for referees who wish to progress through the football pyramid.
I felt stale doing Saturday matches in Peterborough and have enjoyed the new challenges this season as I was promoted to Level 4, I still do Sunday mornings to keep in touch with the local football scene.
Money isnt really an issue as the pay isnt much different to Peterborough league but new faces and new grounds have made it more interesting this year. On the downside it means more travelling and you lose most of your Saturday but sacrifices have to be made.
