View Full Version : Fat Club Challenge
I challenge you, Mr Tommy Cooper and you Mr Mark Speechley (aka Spec) to a weight loss competition.
Like all challenges, this will involve a bet.
Conditions:-
1) All parties must attend Weight Watchers on Monday 8th January 2007 for the official weigh in, and then at an agreed weekly date.
2) Goal - first person to lose two stone is the winner. there is no time limit
3) No cheating!!!!
Bet:-
The two losers must put £200.00 behind the bar of the winning persons team.
In Tommys case, it will have to be an event as he has no team at the moment!
I realise that this has left us open to people partaking of the Michael but its all in good spirit, let the game commence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree to the challenge in principle, however I have some stipulations of my own: -
1. I am not going to any fcuking weight watchers meeting! Happy to have the weigh in on at Perkins first training session in January.
2. This should be a lifestyle change that runs until November 30th 2007 - (on the basis that dieting in December is sad and illegal) anyone (me especially) can lose 2 stone and put it back on again. It should be the person who loses the most weight in % terms between those dates that is determined as the winner, so it is fair on those that don't have such a bad starting position.
3. The person who loses the most decides upon the charity to which anyone else that takes up the challenge donates. Donation can be whatever each individual feels comfortable but must be declared at the outset. I will pledge £500.
4. There should be at least 3 of us on it - a few suggested participants: -
Robbo, Wils, Alex Brown, Paul Cox, Al Lenihan, Spec, Dave Beeny, Darren Fogg, Chris Judge, Richie Baines, The Fletton Midfield and the great Waldo (who is of course Jon Waller).
Bring on the binge diet!

The Tommy Target
Lose 1lb between January 2nd & 5th
Lose 2lb a week for 10 weeks from Friday January 5th to holiday on Friday March 16th.
Put on 7lb during 3-week Caribbean holiday for Cricket World Cup
Lose 2lb a month from April to November inclusive.
= 2 stone taken off + repeat in 2008
Sounds easy when said like that!
NB: Being someone who does not like upsetting people unduly, can I please confirm that at no point did Jon Waller really tell me that Al Lenihan had put weight on over Xmas. Al remains as ever a sleek racing machine, whilst I fear "The Walrus" is already beginning to feel the pressure of the challenge before it has even started.
I`m all for charity but i still think for the sake of the banter the bet should still be with the clubs?
you sound like a man who is really going to do this Gino ! Am up for it and will happily represent Psl if requested. Lets get the runners and riders sorted and the weigh in done!
Gino 4/5 Spec 3/1 Tommy 3/1 Waller 5/1....any other runners??
Good man Jon. Myself, you, Tommy and Spec have all said YES.
Good luck to one and all. The date for the weigh-in is Monday 8th Jan

Want the weigh in earlier Gino - do Perkins still train?
If so we can do your first session after Jan 1st.
I will represent whichever club will have me! - good idea in that respect, though my last weight loss raised £1000 for Macmillan and it would be nice if something positive came out the other side as well as 4 fitter people less likely to be a drain on the nations medical resources over the next few years.
Off to have some more trifle - got a box of after 8's to finish off - then there is that Turkish delight, and the rest of the Xmas cake - Mmmmmm
Thats fine by me Tommy. My last day on the drink will be new years eve. I`ve always said its more the beer with me than the food. Not training for a few weeks into the new year (Work) but your welcome to call a time and place??????????
Tommy Trophy
27-12-2006, 19:59
Al - do PSL do something as silly as train? - if so we could go to their first one - any ideas Walrus / Spec / Tommy.F? (Cathedral Square at mid-day on January 1st!!!)
I need to do it before Jan 8th, as I fear I may die if I have to keep eating lots until then.
Also need some suggestions about a club I can represent - don't want to just say Ortonians and leave you all feeling inferior, inadequate and beat before we start!

Despite my undying respect for Moulton, I am not sure that I am ready to make a leap of that kind Al.
No, I shall represent the Royal Oak. Since Matt Leftley departed I am the only fat bloke in this pub.
If we can't agree a date and venue for the weigh in, then I may do a live webcast from my bedroom on January 2nd, as I heave my semi naked temple of a body onto my scales with the help of hydraulic lifting equipment.
everyone loves a freak show Tom, that could be a more popular webcast than that Sandi Thom's flowers in the hair effort!
I agree the sooner the better for the weigh in, and i take it's % of body weight as i am a stone less than you guys!!
How long will the competition last??
How about Tuesday 2nd of jan at the Oak, shall we say 7.30???
*roolz*
Tommy Trophy
28-12-2006, 17:58
7.30 at the Oak on Tuesday it is then boys - Gino you bring the scales - hope they go up a long way. I am going to get there about 6.30 for a quick couple of pints of Guinness to top things up nicely.
Wils - get your Ice Hockey netminder arse down there as well - its about pride more than money!. Robbo, you and your Chipmunk Cheeks should get involved as well - Richie Baines I can guarantee you safe passage into the Oak if you are frightened of mixing with the rough people - I'll bring my camera to record the moment for posperity.
Walrus - yep it is the one who loses the biggest % of starting point and it goes onto November 30th - your weight fluctuates more than your bank balance so I don't want you losing 2 stone and then putting it back on in a fortnight.
Spec is back from his travels tonight, so we await his confirmed inclusion, though the old chap had been losing weight anyway recently. Tommy Flynn - where are you Tommy Flynn?

Im here Tommy, Im nearly 50 and my body is gorgeous, i dont need to change my body shape.Good luck to all of you whose lives have now finished.I will drink to u all
OK guys I am back and nice and refreshed (i actually feel more fcuked than when i went and tommyc if you think i have been losing weight lately i look like a fcucking teletubby now !!) ready for the challenge and will be at the Oak an hour earlier along with Tommy for a couple of naughty ones before the weigh in.
Not too sure about the % weight loss bit but understand why so I will lose my 2 stone straightaway and if required lose it again before November 30th, see you Tuesday fat boys and Happy New Year xx
Tommy,
I don't usually read this site, but having been tipped off that my name was mentioned on this thread, I thought I'd have a look. Having had a quick flick through previous posts, it does seem in keeping with your profile - i.e "it's all about me !"
Anyway, back to the matter in hand. Yes, I will join the fat club challenge, if the inviatation still stands. As far as the weigh in is concerned, I should be able to manage a visit to the Oak, however, will they let me in as I don't currently have an ASBO order served against me, nor have i ever had a judge say to me the immortal words "I have to warn you, I am considering a custodial sentence" !! Either way, I will be there, taking Mr Waller with me as my security officer, after we have both devoured 3 to 4 megabite all day breakfasts at Stibbington diner.
I did notice that Father Ted was mentioned as a possible candidate. Have you taken up the challenge Judgey ? Remember the less you spend on food, the longer you can keep your heating on for - a prime consideration for the elderley at this time of year.
Just a couple of questions ref. the rules though;
- Is there a regular reveiw of progress for the club members ?
- What is the position ref. charity / amount / clubs ... previous posts didn't seem to come to a definite conclusion.
- Fianlly there must be a specific rule forbidding you from initially weighing in with your wallet in your pocket. It's not that you have too much cash in it, but the amount of credit cards you hold will add 7lb to your weight !
See you New Years Eve.
Just weighed myself 19st 6lb (oh s**t)
My goal is 16st 4lb (dont ask me why, no reason)
That means i need to lose 3st 2lb (god help me)
:xxx: :xxx: :xxx: :xxx:
father ted must be a runner! Are we going to do it like they do on the telly with naked before and after pics?? mr chambers i believe is the resident photographer!! topless tommy and a vestless father ted.... i have a horrid calendar idea!!
maybe a couple games at center half for us gino that could shed a few pounds

On a serious note, I really think it is best if CJ does not join in - sudden weight loss is a major cause of diabetes in the elderly.
I think that my idea of a pledge for whatever everyone feels comfortable with individually could stand. £500 is not being mr big potatoes, but will help focus the mind and keep me on the straight and narrow. Personally if I were to win, I would put the money towards a local sporting team / club / individual who was most deserving rather than to a national charity where you feel a bit of a disconnect with the end recipient - I do strongly feel that if this had a serious benefit for someone, it would make it more than just us all having a bit of a laugh.
Hamdan, welcome to the club - I think we should have a weigh in every time one of your horses wins, or every 3 months if you want something more regular.
Gino, funnily enough I also got on the scales for the first time in ages this morning - 19st 3lb - oh sh*t as well, and still got a few days of feasting to go (January 2nd last year I was dead on 19st). My scales only go up to 19 stone as well, so I was onto my seconfd lap!
Just popped in the Oak and Chipmunk Cheeks is up for it - just need "You can take the boy out of the factory" to confirm.
Anyone else interested, or wants to make a pledge in support of their favourite?
Very good idea about putting into local sports. It seems only right because of our involvement, part of the bet should go to maybe a kids football team for the following season???
Chris Judge
29-12-2006, 19:07
TC I see you wrote regarding the prize in the fat slim
"I would put the money towards a local sporting team / club / individual who was most deserving "
Individual that must mean Mark Baines..... or could it be Lee Ayres or Teddy Paling
Or is it been there done that and got nothing :soo:
Tommy Trophy
29-12-2006, 20:30
Another good response CJ - you must be keeping up to date with your medication!
Mr Baines seems to be doing very well without my help, though the text re Yaxley job was a bit naughty.
Lee Ayres has become a bit moody at Silver Jubilee I understand, so a move to Sawtry is on the cards.
As for Teddy, I reckon it is back to Oundle for him (where Golden should have stayed).
That's a point - no one has mentioned Foggy representing the Jube in the challenge?
or upfront gino come and do mine and brads running for us you will be a size 8 by valentines day! :dog:
Keep your opinions to yourself on my players Tommy, you might have bainsey wrapped round your little finger (obviously because of financial input) but that little avenue could easily be closed down for you, or having your jaw wired up is the easiest way to lose weight.
Tommy Trophy
30-12-2006, 11:44
Are you manager again then Spec?
Stand by the advice I gave Bainsey 100% (nothing to do with finances for either of us, though he has a decent deal at Deeping) - think it is vindicated by his performances so far - going up to Stamford (step 3) would have been too big an ask given the state of his fitness in October, which is still a bit short even for the level he is at.
Who knows how far he can go - I think it is well known that I believe he could play in the League - he will score goals whatever level he plays at, but it is down to him now.
Golden had given his word that he was staying at Oundle, and I know was not happy going back on his word, as it is not in his nature, though obviously going to Fletton was a step back up closer to the level he had been at for the last 3 seasons.
Good luck today Spec and see you Tuesday
Perhaps you should have had the decency to speak to me first before you advise my players on what they should be doing, it won't be forgotten and you saw me a lot sooner than you thought you were going to didn't you fatty !!
Didn't know I was not the manager either, next time I miss a couple of games I will ring and ask your permission oh great one (fat c**t that is).
Do you think we should all start this on Tuesday with £50 per person?
Tommy Trophy
31-12-2006, 16:45
Fine by me Gino. Regular weigh in every 2 months on the first Tuesday of the month suit everyone?
See you at 6.30 for a quick couple then Tuesday Spec - well done on your win yesterday, helped of course by my decision to allow Mark Baines to play after the Deeping game was called off. It was the least we could do after the help you gave him in getting fit earlier in the season whilst we decided which offer to accept. I think you will find they are all my players really - I have only ever let anyone have the ones I don't want or have finished with!
Got to go my mobile is ringing: -
"hello"
"hello Tommy it's Bainsey"
"What can I do for you Mark?"
"Well I am torn between 2 offers to further my career - Stamford or Deeping, and I would value your opinion"
"Well Mark, I think I should put the phone down and ring Spec just to let him know I am about to give you some advice and then call you back"
"ok Tommy"
Every month would be better mate?

31-12-2006, 18:57
Privately I suspect we will be weighing ourselves every bloody day at the start - happy to go with the majority Gino for a team weigh in
No worries mate.
So are we saying £50 in the pot Tuesday?
Its ok with me and Tommy, what about the others?
fine with me, who's keeping the pot?? i feel i am at a major dis advantage by being the most svelte like! I probably cant win as 2 stone off will make me an athlete again! See you Tuesday
can i look after the pot? PLEASE??? :snt:

Tommy Trophy
01-01-2007, 12:04
As long as we have all pledged it, why does anyone have to look after it?
Looks like it is just the big 5: -
Tommy - 2/1
Gino - 2/1
Spec - 3/1
Richie - 5/1
Walrus - 8/1
Odds as supplied by "Father Ted - The King of the Points"
OK with the £50 pledge for tomorrow.
After viewing tommy's drinking and eating habits at close quarters last night, I think he's no better than 6/4 to see out the month of January. He's a heart attack waiting to happen.
I got a great one for you guys: I'm editor of Peterborough Live' Magazine you guys would look great in there in ya pants being weighed... Im serious by the way might even reserve page 3! What you think to a monthly thing for its duration...? It's a new community magazine goes in pubs clubs etc (so you wont look so bad when the readers are bladdered!)

A little bit of caution before tonight's big weigh-in.
I have been reliably informed that one contestant is planing to use some saddle cloth weights to boost his weight so I hope all those weighing in will be frisked before going to the scales.
No names mentioned but that well known Deeping entrepreneur and casanova (well he does try) is always looking for an edge

Ok the game has commenced. The runners are as follows
Fly Weight Jon Waller 14st 12Ibs Neck 16" Belly 41"
Middle Weight Richie Baines 16st 11Ibs Neck 17" Belly 43"
Super Middle Weight Spec 17st 10Ibs Neck 17" Belly 43"
Heavy Weight Gino 19st 6Ibs Neck 19" Belly 47"
Super Heavy Weight Tommy C 19st 9Ibs Neck 20" Belly 49"
Everyone started with £50, pot sits at £250. Weigh-in is first Monday in each month and goes on for 6 months. Each month the person who has lost the least must add another £50 the second adds £40 the 3rd £30 all the way down to £10.
Once the winner has taken their money back, half goes behind the bar of their choice and the other half to a team of their choice.
There can be only one
big sessions coming up so can seeing me moving up those weights nicely! Gino to win, big Tom to take a not so decisive early advantage
Gino clear favourite for me. Seems to be taking this a bit seriously. Tommy C a big drifter - although an impressive performance to put 5lb on in a day (2lb of which was in the Oak !!) - although he will trap well, his stamina is suspect.
Tommy C - are you confirming the side bets made tonight ? You and the flyweight in a straight match bet finishing in 6 months, then the tag team challenge of baines/waller vs the pantomine dames tommyc/gino, finishing on March weigh in. £100 each bet, result based on percentage loss.
there was a diversion in Werrington today....were you out running tommy??!

03-01-2007, 22:20
Hamdan - No, as it stands we will be raising more than £1000 and that's enough - plus I don't trust you and the pregnant prawn - you're up to something.
Wall - no not out running, but went for a 3 mile walk around Ferry Meadows at lunchtime - got hungry half way around and stopped in the cafe at the watersports centre for pie & chips - start diet tomorrow.
Heard Spec went out and bought a hacksaw today - there must be easier ways.
Gino - you added an inch to both my belly and neck, but I am not in a position to complain - who would have guessed that 2 pints would weigh 2lb?
Can not put halfs on the computer so just rounded them all up.
Ventured out to work this morning after spending new years eve and the following 3 days under my 'poorly quilt', what a great time to get man flu must have sweated off half a stone and saved putting on another half stone by missing the new years celebrations, if the odds are still 3/1 on me Mr Chris 'Mcririck' Judge then I will have a straight £100 with you.

Just seeing that awful blob is enough to make anybody drink Meths
Tommy is now none as the bungalow . I was going to join in but at 14.7 not wise . For me to win I would have to be the weight of a five year old child.but it was good standing next to the 5 contestants
Where's barwars these days Robbo ?? We all miss him and hope he comes back soon, have you barred him from the site and is that where his name comes from ?? C'mon Kevin are you out there......
I have taken his P.C away from him spec . How you feeling now . I have taken tommy the bungalow to the hospital to have his tongue removed from bainsey's arse in order for him to lose 12 stone in the first month, as I'm his personal trainer this had to be done, hope your diet is going well but don't kill yourself. The hospital has given tommy the bungalow two months to live, my aim as his trainer is to get him down to the size of a garden shed.

Blimey - Gino has got a personal trainer, Hamdan has been to the gym every day this week, Spec has contracted a viral disease in order to lose weight, and I understand the pregnat prawn has lost 5lb since Tuesday.
Its all very competitive. Had a business lunch in London today - 4 courses - now 19st 11lb - extending the bungalow Robbo (and getting a bigger car) - starting diet next week
Enjoying all of your comments - thanks Shaun - always good to read some original material
don't give me all of that "next week" cr*p tommy. I know you have been shedding a few pounds with your "fruit only" and "veg only" days.
Yes, i have been a frequent visitor to the gym (the same one that you are soon to attend, so I understand), however, apparently muscle weighs more than fat I'm told, so a rethink to my regime is called for. Might have to nip round Spec's to see if I can catch something virulent ! Mind you if I wait until next week & borrow your towel, that should do the trick.
had it on good authority Tom has shed 6ib, good boy Tom keep it going! Some people are taking this very seriously.......love it!
Fair play to you fellow 'fatties', still in the grip of the 'viral' but unfortunately it seems to be going now, had a nice leisurely walk around cash and carry yesterday and stocked up on the essentials required for weight loss i.e diet coke, lots of fish and some skinless chicken fillets. Anyway no more of my secrets but as promised I will publish my first weeks intake of food and drink on Wednesday and there will be a few raised eyebrows from my fellow contestants that might make them wonder if it is all worth it for them.
On another note I don't know whether a new years resolution is sweeping around the Fletton camp but instead of the usual cry offs I have just been informed that both sides have too many players for todays games, still it's only 10.30 and the predicted time for 'working' or 'dogs dead' or 'been bitten by a lettuce' normally is around 11.30.

Worked up a bit of an appetite - came home and had a huge bit of Billy's steak - 19st 10lb - now only 1lb over starting point - been told that I have got to go to South Africa for 5 days in February - that's going to help!

A quiet week from the fasting five - Hamdan is too busy at the gym to post, Walrus is taking it nice and smoothly, Spec is in intense mode and Gino is VERY quiet - how's it going big man (or is it not so big man now?)
I have got a 2 night stop at Hanbury Manor Monday & Tuesday for a strategy convention or something, followed by a party in London Wednesday night - start diet next week - off to tuck into my bacon sarnies.
If I am perfectly honest I haven't started taking it too seriously yet Tommy but I will give you a rough idea of food and drink intake in the last ten days, kentucky, chinese x 2, indian, mummy's sunday dinner, spag bol, battered mushrooms galore, xmas selection box (my 40 year old sister still buys me one every year).
Drink - Last Friday - 3 pints, Saturday after football - 4 pints, 27 bacardi and cokes (home at 11.30 so small session), Sunday after football - 4 pints and 6 bacardi and cokes, last night 2 pints and 5 bacardi and cokes.
Weight loss so far 4lbs.

Good to see you back on form Spec - its been a while since one of your posts had me chuckling.
Not been in a gym or out running but have done around 7 x 3 mile walks, 60 minutes for Oak, cut back on food a little, drunk water during the day rather than coffee and not had any alcohol. Weighed in this morning at 18st 4lb.
19lb down then, though 1 stone off based on what I weighed in the morning of January 2nd so quite pleased. It is slowing down now, and I said at the outset it is more of a conscious lifestyle change for me, so in all honesty I would take 1 pound a month for the next 2 years. Not missing the beer to be fair, and would like to manage about 7 weeks or so without 100% just to get me started(never done more than 3 weeks before)
How are the rest of you doing?
Ok. Started at 19st 6Ibs,
Doing a weight watchers points system diet (breakfast, Fruit & sandwich for lunch and full plate at night)
Not eating after 9
Exercise every other day
Only drinking Bottled Bud (1 and half points)
Lost 12Ibs upto last night
pulled my calf on third day......got bored after a week and to be honest am quite happy being slightly portly but enormously happy.....weight loss thus far 2ib
Started 16 11lb. First proper weigh in this morning - 16 1lb. Mind you my weight seems to fluctuate about 7lb during the day depending on when i weigh myself, so that could be 16 8lb :soo:
Still doing the gym thing, but no real change to diet & never was a slave to the booze. Will be happy enough with a 2lb a week loss, 3 months of that and 2st gone.
Big tests coming up, out tonight, then 3 Dubai trips in 4 weeks followed by a couple of Spanish jaunts. Could be interesting !
Wal - you still having your chocolate only days ?
chocolate only monday and wednesday, red wine sunday's with me roast beef....... slimming world!! He'll be having colonic irrigation next!!

Weigh myself the same time every day Bainer - after Breakfast and my regular 7:30 - seems like we lost a fair bit between us, which will be putting less strain on the gravitational pull of the earth, thereby doing our bit for the planet.
Off to watch Leicester v Cardiff in the Heinekin Cup, so no temptations to fall from the straight and narrow there.

17st 13lb this morning, so 24lb down, though "only" 5lb in last 12 days. Would be nice to get down to 17-9 for the weigh in, which would be 2 stone in a month. 23 days without alcohol - a record since I was 12.
Take it we are still on for Monday Feb 5th - 7pm at the Oak ok everyone?
Spec - time to look over your shoulder fella
Pregnant Prawn - you have gone very quiet - have you checked in at Henlow Grange?
Gino - still enjoying your Bud?
Handam - Starting to lose interest yet?
Oh Tommy, Hamdan and myself sem to have read you and Gino and seemingly Spec like a book. Like many of your ex'es have said in the past you seem to start very quickly but once your given a little adulation you begin to tail off. It's a marathon...

It doesnt matter who goes to Higham the job is not done yet.Take nothing for granted J.W.
very true Tom, but the more support the better! Party was probably the wrong word
jon w, how silly thou art, ask a few of your ex's and they will tell you I start at a leisurely pace and build into a crescendo, never to disappoint when the final moment comes. I might just have lost a lb or 2 or I meet even still be the same weight, haven't looked yet as I am still getting through all my chocolate goodies from Xmas and also went on a huge bender last weekend (probably haven't drank that much since I was 12).
I won't be at Higham next Saturday as I have the small matter of a Hunts Cup quarter final at home to St Neots instead.
TommyC, I never have to look over my shoulder any more........
Not losing interest just yet Tommy. Just returned from another flying visit to Dubai for the races, where if I am honest I over did things a bit on the diet / alcohol front - A bad habit picked up from Father Ted on previous visits :soo: Out there again next week, so will have to be more disciplined, but weight is still coming off. Gym attendance tailed off the last week or so due to the foreign travels, but will rev it back up again.
Wal - Tommy's habit of flattering to deceive is the story of his life. Have no doubts that he won't stay the distance. Apologies for the tips yesterday, hope you didn't lose too much - moral of the story - never trust a Brazilian. Day was made even worse by Ed Dunlop telling us that afternoon that both his should go close - what happens, they both win. Didn't back them because didn't think he could train ivy up a wall.
See you all on the 5th at the Oak.

Going to the ET Sports Awards dinner tonight, and driving so the non-alcohol run will continue. Took my blood pressure yesterday 109/58 so even that is looking good.
Little bit worried about your anti-Brazilian racist slant Bainer, which might mean you getting voted off the weight loss programme by the general public.
Nice little drive to see Queen of the South v Partick tomorrow, thereby keeping me on the straight and narrow. As those league titles should tell you Hamdan I am a marathan man and looking forward to the long haul with relish - even broke out my wedding suit earlier in the week as I shall be getting back in it soon!

Large lapells and bags and kipper tie Tommy?Should be back in fashion by the time you do mate.
Finally found a man of the cloth that will let you marry yourself then Tommy Torphy
putting the wedding suit on the first time was not your brightest idea Tom, we are talking about the FIRST time are we???!
I don't know about that Wal - a few people got some satisfaction out of that union :soo:
Nice to see you have been on another of your inane trips Tommy - just a word of advice - make sure Mrs C (version 2) is to hand with a fire extinguisher when you try that suit on - acrylic is a very combustible material, as you should well know.
Hamdan, Tommy's first provided an important community service at the time, i do remember somebody else who may have been also asked to do community service...it might have been the person who was charged with supplying Tommy with clothes?
Very true Wal. Shame they didn't have those "Pride in Peterborough" awards back then - would have been a shoe in - dedicating so much time to the local community.
she was a true warrior who would have definitely had my vote.....what with all that time devoted to the community and having to witness Tommy naked and proud....it brings a tear to my eye just thinking of the dignity she must have sacrificed akll too often!

Mr Flynn it looks like you might have set Tweedledee & Tweedledum off with this one.
Wall you knows that there is a route that I could begin to wander down which you might find a little uncomfortable don't you - and you Mr Baines!
Great games seem to be following me around at the moment and Queen of the South went from 4-0 up with 6 minutes to go to 4-3 and Partick Thistle missed a great chance to equalise in injury time - still 3 important points for the Doonhamers!
I can announce that on Feb 5th there will be a new entrant into the fat club challenge (clue - he used to be taller)
Had a three course meal 3 days on the trot now which has put a little bit back on - and been on a course on handling the media down in London today, so shouldn't have too much difficulty with FT on Saturday!
and there in lies the difference tommy.... whilst you may think you know of a route to wander down, we would need sat. nav to find our way along the multitude of highways and byways you have graced over the years.
oh Tommy, i do think i would firmly win that one!! i have more material than a Bejing cotton picking factory!!
Hamdan, amazing what surfaces when we are forced to reminisce!
Maybe we should start another thread on the forum - "the Tommy C Years 1984 - 1994" .
Any ideas for subject matter :soo:
Hamdan, off the top of my head i can think of at least twelve very exciting chapters.....little bit like the famous five books., we could start with .....Tommy goes to Leicester!!
My favourite part of that book is the bit when Tommy gets a brand new shiny car ... I think it was a Ford Escort .. it got really exciting then.
Maybe the sequel could be "Tommy goes to Australia (well nearly) "
" Tommy dumps shiny new car " was a really exciting chapter, that car was lovely as well!! The only thing was it was frequented all far too often by Tommy's underwear.... many items of which i believe had never quite made friend's with the washing machine!

KC & the Sunshine Band
ooooooh ......... the stakes have been raised.
Gentlemen ..... start your engines !
Have shared many wonderful memories with Tom so will not now slip to cheap under belly shots....he is my hero after all! a dignified silence shall prevail
very close to the bone Tommy C.
As the great Jermaine Jackson once said - "Kindness is a strength" ...... Wal, you are my Shilpa Shetty.
very wise words indeed......tom is my jade goody
Shall I join in......... fcuk it yes, one of my favourite chapters would have to be 'Tommy goes to the Arkle bar in his acrylic suit'   (Part one of course)
I have to say Spec, i had nearly forgotten that one, a spectacular day! It was not long after " Tommy went to Germany to resurrect his sexy football career"
........ or Tommy goes to an Indian restuarant (Part 1 of 23)
it was an indian restaurant doing 2 for the price of one which brings on another chapter "Tommy takes advantage" part 1 0f 7578
Month 1 and the Fat boys done the city proud
Between us we lost 4st 2Ibs (wow)
Leading the way and only paying £10 is Tommy C (lost 24 Ibs, 8.7%)
Coming second and paying out £20 Mr Baines (lost 15Ibs, 6.4%)
A very respectable 3rd paying out £30 Big G (lost 11 Ibs, 3.3%)
Secret trainer and the dark horse Mr Waller £40 (lost 5Ibs, 3.0%)
Drinking hard and still losing Big Spec paying £50 (lost 6Ibs, 2.4%)
Tommy won the battle but the war goes on, watch this space.
A big well done to all the lads i think is in order?
yep - well done all. A long way to go, but a good start. I must point out that Tommy C's loss is largely due to the fact that he didn't bring his ego with him this time ..... that accounted for at least 18lb at the original weigh in.
Tommy .... On recent travels I had plenty of time to do some more reading, so decided to get stuck into the Tommy trilogy of adventures.
Tommy Pays the Ferryman ...... this was an Ok read, but fairly predictable all the same.
Tommy has Tennis lessons ...... was fascinated to find out what this was all about, as the title was confusing, but it all became quickly very clear.
Finally, Part 2 of Spec's favourite read ..... Tommy goes to the Arkle Bar. This was a particularly violent book where Tommy took on a similar role to that of Bruce Willis is the Die Hard series.
Looking forward to my next travel so I can read some more adventures. Any recommendations ?
Bainer, quality! I think Tommy left his ego behind due to some underhand (i think you spell back like that) remarks from 2 naughty boys (that became clear last night that they were in self defence so allowed) who cut him down to size a little (2 stone obviously).
A little read for your travels perhaps could be, 'Tommy meets a face burning arsonist at Faith'

Having won the first month after weighing in without my ego, I fully expect to win February as well, as I am having to hand back the Peterborough Premier League Trophy and Hunts Senior Cup this month which should make my load even lighter.
can we do it on fri 2nd please...away on the 5th

With JW not able to make the weigh in on Monday, Bainer out of the country, Gino in Birmingham and me in London think the weigh in will need to be done individually (Spec is ok with this as well)
4 out of the 5 of us are honest upright citizens who would not cheat their fellow participants so I think this will be fine. So for the record: -
Richie Baines now 15st 9lb - lost 1lb - minus 0.46% - Running total - lost 16lb - minus 6.8%
Tommy Cooper - 17st 4lb - lost 9lb - minus 3.59% - Running total - lost 33lb - minus 12.00%
From the first weigh in we had: -
Jon Waller 14-12 to 14-7, Gino 19-6 to 18-9 and Mark Speechley 17-10 to 17-4.
Just post your weights and we can catch up on the loot side next time - although as I won't be there for April (Cricket World Cup but not allowed to mention it apparently) I have already accepted last place due to non-appearance, plus I fully intend putting weight on! - I will let you know how my weight is if possible from Antigua on Monday April 2nd.
Scales fluctuating from 17 stone 6oz to anywhere up to 17 stone 11oz so I am happy to say 17 stone 1lb to be on the safe side, 5 pints, at least 20 bacardi and cokes yesterday after our game was called off and a nice chinese celebrating my sisters birthday last night probably tipped me back over the 17 stone mark (and nearer to an early grave).
Tommy you work the mass out!!
Tommy - think we might need a stewards enquiry on this.
If I recall correctly, you told me on Friday night you had lost 7lb so far this month. You alone, then proceeded to consume 4 glasses of champagne, 1 pint of boddingtons, 4 to 5 bottles of red wine, various high calories cheesy canapes, 1 x beef strogonoff with rice, a cream pavlova, a large section of the cheese board (couldn't say exactly how much as I was checking father Ted's pulse at this stage to see if he was still alive) followed by half a bottle of port.
Despite this intake you seem to have lost a further 2lb - are you sure your scales are not on the 2nd lap when they come to rest ?
P.S - just to reassure you, Father Ted was alive & looking forward to the up coming bout between Frank Bruno & Michael Barrymore at the Cresset, which he has apparently managed to get tickets for - he really should stay off the drink at his age ! :blh:

I had lost 7lb Bainer from the morning of the weigh in February which was 17st 9lb - weighed in heavier (17-13) because of dinner and drink on purpose! So your rather fine dinner party did in fact see me put on 2lb (and fall asleep in the Taxi and not bother going to Sheff Utd v Everton yesterday, though I did get to the Keane concert - outstanding) - did my 6 mile walk this morning in new trainers so some nice blisters on my little toes!
Spec that is 17-10 to 17-4 to 17-1 then - minus 1.24% in last month and 3.63% in total
My money is on Gino to win this month? - what about it big fella, or have you been knocking back those Buds with a bit to much gay abandon.
And the Pregnant Prawn - are you still with us or is it still not fair!

Nice one Gino - minus 4.98% last month and leading for February and minus 8.83% in total - not sure if Mr Waller is still with us or not.
Brian, my need for impartiality precludes the cup final sponsorship I am afraid. It would have been funny, but as I will be away (Antigua at the Cricket World Cup but don't really want to mention it) and will miss your final anyway, even the joke side of it wouldn't work for me.
Good luck to you anyway, though I don't think you will need it.
We need a date for this months weigh in lads?

7.30 ok with me - I am at Huntingdon races during day (think Bainer is there as well)
I am 1/50 to be paying the 50 pounds (no pound sign on keyboard!) this month (though is it now 40) - gettin a bit bored of eat and drink as much as you want 24/7 - it would be rude not to indulge though wouldn't it. I think elasticated trousers are underrated.
Glorious day today - cloudless sky - did some great snorkelling out on a reef this morning and ate and drank since - unbelievable sunset - off to Cricket tomorrow and having been a good boy last few days have a green light to get totally ****ed.
Quite funny here at moment as island is overrun with Indians who had booked to be here for Super 8's!

Saw Gino on Saturday and he has confirmed that he is still 17-10 so no change from March. I weighed in at 17-12 (same as February) but up 8lb (3.59%) on March.
Paid on my £40 for expected last position unless any of you others still going have done worse.
Pop your weights on here and I will work out % etc.
Saw Robbo yesterday for a pint or ten and he wishes he had joined us properly - he looks like Mr Burns - even his mum has told him off for losing too much weight!
17stone 4lbs, slight rise of 3lbs, but still not taken it remotely serious yet, managed a whopping 54 bacardi and cokes Friday night and just going through my bank details to see if it is a record but somehow think not, managed to cook a midnight feast for everyone afterwards consisting of sausage and mushroom sandwiches and bacon and fried egg sandwiches with flapjacks for afters, don't know what the fcuk the flapjacks were all about but hey ho never a dull night with me (i am starting to look fat again though).
Had my weigh in last night and yes, stayed the same 17st 10Ibs. Need to hear from Richie and Jon W ?????
apologies for the delay ........... briefly lost the will to live after having to endure Tommy's views on his basic but convenient holiday yesterday. Mind you the kids were pleased with the split from the £200 made from you, playing bookmaker (& it could have been a lot more !).
Understand that Sunday was declared a national holiday in the Carribean - the day after the Coopers left - local reports suggest it was similar to a feeding frenzy at the zoo whan Mr & Mrs C arrived for the all inclusive buffets. Nothing like getting your value is there Tommy?
Weight loss of 1lb during the period (15st 8lb) - could be this months winner unless Wal has beaten that - did hear rumours that he has been seen riding out on the gallops at Newmarket though.
Just at the airport killing time whilst waiting for flight. Wal has lent me a book to read on the plane ........ "Tommy goes to Amsterdam and loses his friends". I'll let you know what it's like when I get back !
You are correct, am riding out twice a week for Mr Stoute, am very pleased he decided to venture in to camel racing!
Am a very svelte 13st 11 now, so a very decent weight loss, upholding that tradition of yo yo dieting.
That book is super Richie, i do hope you enjoy it, there are a couple of "wet and sticky" pages, but they are all part of the enjoyment of the read.
Well done lads on an old school month!!

Not wishing to split hairs Hamdam (and you have not got that many to split) it was £100 to you so your kids could have some pocket money and £100 in payment of the telephone bet following your fantastic tip.
Despite the cheap nature of the spread on Monday and the proliferation of saturated fats, I have managed to lose 2lb so far this week and I am now back into my stride.
Trip to the Grand National meeting over the weekend (and Worcester Sunday) presents a challenge to my new found enthusiasm, but the length of my walk from the cheap seats I have to the bookmaker pitches should compensate for any over indulgence.
Good job JNE did not join our challenge (though God knows it would come in useful) when I got back to work I heard that in trying to lose some weight ahead of his operation, he took to walking 1.5 miles one lunchtime, only to get 4 huge blisters on his feet and have to take himnself off to the hospital!
Whats the order this time then Tommy?
Tommy Trophy
12-04-2007, 17:46
For March it is quite straightforward: -
1. Richie
2. Gino
3. Spec
4. Tommy
(Didn't have a March figure for JW)
Overall it is actually quite tight at present
1. TC (-9.1%)
2. Gino (-8.8%)
3.Richie (-7.2%) - same as JW
4. Spec (-2.4%)
Think that we had better do a proper weigh in for May and then a final one on Monday May 2nd?
