On Saturday 17th July, the second Mick Belson Cup tournament will be taking place at Eye Sports' home ground at Lindisfarne Road, Eye.

The four squads involved are Eye Sports, Huntingdon Town FC, a Nags Head Reunion XI and a PST-UK select XI.

There will be two semi-finals of 40 mins (20 mins each way) and the winners from the two matches will face each other in a final, also of two 20 minute halves.

The fixtures will be drawn at random on the day of the game, by Jean Belson.

If the matches are still level at the end of the second half, the result will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.

Each team will pay a £30 entry fee and every player involved on the day will pay a £5 individual donation. It is free entry for those who wish to watch, however.

On the day, the bar will be open for drinks and also a small barbecue for food. After the match, we will all be heading to The Sports Lounge in the City Centre for the presentation of the Mick Belson Cup & medals, the raffle draw, plus further barbecue food and an opportunity for us all to celebrate Mick's memory over many drinks.

As well as the bar and barbecue, a team of fundraisers will be on-hand selling raffle tickets, the proceeds of which will go to selected cancer charities. Once back at The Sports Lounge, when you buy your first drink you can also "buy Mick a pint" by leaving a pound behind the bar, which will go towards the day's fundraising.

We already have some great gifts including a new Indesit/Hotpoint appliance (inc. delivery) and a Peterborough United jersey signed by Charlie Lee. As with any charity event, if you can provide some more raffle prizes, they would be greatly received. Maybe ask at work or look around at home for any unwanted gifts? Send me a private message if you are able to do so.

We hope that you will all be down to support this event and raise as much money as possible. Let's try to make this a great day and really help a good cause, so that in the future we might not needlessly lose anyone else from our local football family.
