View Full Version : PDFL Website
The PDFL website will be closed from the start of June for its annual maintenance.
After two years the many glitches that occured have been fixed and we now want to spend some time getting the public face of the system doing what you guys want it to do.
So, heres your part, If you have any ideas and requests for the website, post them on here, or email us at webmaster@pdfl.org and we'll try and get as many of them on the site by the start of the season as possible.
Thanks in advance,
PDFL.
how about listing the venues and when you click on the venue it has i link to multimap showing a map of its location?(a bit similar to what you get on rightmove showing the location of a property)
i know many people know where they're going by now but it'd be handy to jog your memory of if people are going somewhere for the first time. it'd also be handy for managers to print off and hand out to drivers for away games where people are not quite sure where they're going.
JB That is planned and hopefully will be in place for next season

Make the navigation a bit clearer and call to action tabs larger - agree with the map thing.
Put on previous league tables and cup winners and links to the FA Site and other leagues with a site locally.
Link to PeterboroughSportstalk site should also be re-established with a disclaimer landing page.
Pictures and short biographies of league officials would give them a more human touch!
What about a section for referees!
Not sure how much site costs to maintain etc. but there is spare inventory around the site for banner ads etc. which might cover that cost
It's a pretty good site now and I always go on Saturday evening to get results and save myself 35p with the ET on a Monday!
direct links from teams or their cup fixtures to the county cup info on the county's website. which i think was kind of what tommy was also saying :soo:
what about a guestbook for each team where the opposition can say thanks for hospitality or where they can praise a player and opponents could also use it to "scout" their opposition based on peoples praises and opinions. it'd need to be regulated for abuse etc but not much different to this forum it'd just be club specific for people's comments.

All valid points Tommy. Old league tables are available via the league history or atleast they are back to 2000. I hope to copy the league table book onto the site at some point, although this might take some time.
Committee member information will also be added during the close season. A link to Sports talk has never been added to the PDFL site, although I see no reason why it can not be added with the disclaimer. I do all of the reports on the site and would dearly love to be in a position to add more information regarding clubs, in particular lower division club. Items such as team photos etc would help me add more info. Your point about sponsorship via adverts is also being looked into. Do you know of any companies that may be interested?
Thanks for your input.
Hi everyone.
Thought it was about time you got an update on the website changes.
It will hopefully be up sometime next week with the majority of the changes in place. The remaining features will come online ready for the start of the season.
The changes include,
* All postponed and abandoned games will be shown on the result list.
* Results listed by team will include the date
* A new quick fixture / result form will be on the front page of the site
* All results will have a match report section. This will detail the players who played, goalscorers, referee, and most importantly match reports, submitted by you!
* Each team will have there own section, showing top goalscorers, league form, next fixtures, results, and most importantly, a guestbook so everyone can write comments about the team, the facilities etc. Your'll also be able to put on the team crest and team photo.
* Venues will have links to maps showing their location. (We need your help with postcodes for your venues so again, feel free to email them to us and we'll add them in. info@pdfl.org)
* Your'll be able to comment on existing news items and also submit new news items.
* The league handbook and all league committee minutes will be online.
* The links section will be active, yes with a link to this site, plus links to all the teams within the league and counties etc. (We need you to tell us the addresses though so email us info@pdfl.org )
* All league tables and results from the past two seasons will be online.
* And finally, this year we'll be trialling a brand new mobile version of the site. This will enable you to get fixtures, results and league tables, on your mobile at any time, any place. (This really is a trial though so it might not work on all mobiles and we'll need your help to get the bugs ironed out.)
Hopefully you can appreciate, these are major changes to the site and we're trying to get these in place as soon as possible. Hopefully your'll also see were trying to enable you to be as engaged as you wish with the league through your comments, match reports and stories. This will help everyone involved in the league to share the vast amount of experience and information out there. If someones facilities aren't up to scratch, tell us about it. The league can't do anything if they don't know about it. People often complain theres not enough info about the lower leagues, now you guys have got the ability to have info about every game played.
Anyway, thats enough from me, I better get back to making those changes.

The site is probably cached on your machine. When your on the site, www.pdfl.org press ctrl+F5. This will force the site to reload.
