just a posting to list a few points that would love to hear opinions on.
all week we have been strugling to get a side as our eastfield ortonians contingent have booked a nice romantic holiday in prague which we have known about for a while . . . that coupled with a nice big selection of injuries has made our nice squad be reduced by a significant number .

now we have the priveledge of having a good res team which we would normally call upon, but in my opininon is hampered by a gay rule which is as follows.

aparently if u play in a lower leage cup game it cup ties u from playin in a higher cup .

now am i correct in thinkin the rule should be the other way round?
as the rule stands we cant call anyone from the first team , coupled with the fact our game falls on a game where our res are away in northampton means we have very few players to choose from.

there are a lot of people who actually cant play this weekend as they have played in a higher northants cup game ( illegable for the res game) , and have played for our reserves in the lower cup game , (illegible for our first team game)

we could be one of these clubs to call off the game for a warter logged pitch ( ill get the hose ready) or start to tell our players to cough lots as our lungs are polluted from the oil blast but we are are netherton ,we fight on :gun:

what u lot think???

gay rule

totally agree mate. for example if you play in the pfa minor cup then you are inelligible for the senior cup or vice versa. surely these are two seperate competitions?! i know theoretically they are the same cup but at different levels but that is the only link as there are 2 groups of teams for both competitions. the same applies for a number of other sat/sun competions like county cups etc.

i think this rule is there to prevent 1st teamers trophy hunting in res's teams but surely the restrictions on the number of 1st teamers playing in a res teams combats this problem anyway?

I can not speak for the league competition or infact the county cups, unless I read the competition rules. However I can advise you that should a player be fielded in say The PFA Minor Cup, he can still play in the Junior, Challenge or Senior Cups. However having played in a higher cup he can not return to a lower cup. I trust this clarifies.
