Well in the squad, playing is another story lol
It is not because of Royston, it was something that we had been pondering anyway, particularly when the PDFL/PSMFL/PFA officials are good enough to come on here and comment now. It is only courteous that they should know whom they are being addressed by?
The only problem is now people have to be even more cautious what they write, the fa will have an even easier time filling their coffers with misconduct charges ect.

Mo you still hav to voice your view misconduct charge or not
Lol, It was not myself I was thinking of mate lol, I know some people write comments straight after games while still disappointed with people or incidents during a game and therefore sometimes word their posts badly and may leave the possibility of fa fines ect...

Personally, I do not think you should 'force' users to use their real name, I've never seen this on any other forum and surely it's better to give the option to the user than make the decision for them. There's also the fact people may be posting on here when they should be working and if the names and posts are open to the search engines they could get in to trouble with their boss.
A lot of the things written by some people on here are ridiculous whether they use their real name or not*.

Still like to have a nose every now and then but yeah, that's fair comment!
Just wouldn't want such a thing to also put potential new users off.

It also adds extra creditability to the site!!

We all know who each other is on here anyhow so why make it compulsory, it doesnt give it any more credibility at all either and it'll certainly make it a duller place as lets face it, we all love that rants from people who need to vent a bit of steam and it causes good banter - if everyones named then the FA's only have to read through the site and start posting the fines out.......
No, I'm Sparticus!

fines on way to me then
Not sure about that Mark to be honest, does that mean just because an opinion is written by someone called cham1 it is less valid than someone called mark chambers really? No I would like to think the pdfl, psmfl and the pfa would take any point, opinion or criticism on it's merit rather than the name next to it. Pst has some very knowledgable people on here with huge amounts of experience within the game some going back 20+ years. That should be enough credibility on it's own.
This is obviously my personal opinion only.
In any walk of life there needs to be accountability. If you want to rant, then it will just make you think a little more creatively about how to word it. I have ranted plenty of times and everyone knows who I am, but I have worded it in such a way as to avoid a charge of bringing the game into disrepute.
Opinions need credibility, credibility is obtained by substance, substance must have foundation and foundation is the platform for respect.
People should not hide behind closed doors if they want to be taken serious…
I agree Raph but let's be honest not everyone is as controlled venting their anger. Geordie for example is very straight talking and WILL say things exactly how he sees them rightly or wrongly ( sorry leccy you came to mind first) this site would not be as it is now because you will see opinions either stifled or just not stated at all. I voted for names just because I personally have nothing to hide, I do try to word criticism very carefully but i think some will just start new accounts with fake emails and fake names to avoid the possibility of misconduct charges. Therefore credibility would drop not rise.

the reason why i said to be comfirmed by a landline number by admin, who should have the power to delete accounts if they think its a trouble maker and not a genuine person asking a question or adding useful imformative stuff

Not entirely sure making names show up will help anything over the internet. Look at the social network sites and see how many David Beckham accounts there are. Im pretty sure there aren't that many in the world. If someone wants to make a post under a false name they can do. It's not rocket science.
Facebook is worldwide though Assassin, whereas we are a fairly boutique forum. If someone isn't who they claim to be, there are plenty of wise heads on here who will realise, plus Ross and I have to approve their membership first (which includes them providing a valid email and other personal details).
If someone wants to go to that much effort, then let them do so, but it will be like dropping Sepp Blatter into a pit of hungry cannibals.
