As match referee I would like to publicly apologise for my performance at the above fixture. I was terrible from about the third minute and i think the best contribution i made was when i blew the final whistle.

I cannot offer any excuses for my woeful performance and will not defend this. I was rubbish and can only say sorry.

Sorry to Sports - i dont know why i didnt give the penalty when Abbas was taken out but it goes to prove nobody's perfect.

Hopefully this performance was a one off.

Hope you all have a good Christmas

Regards, Paul

Now look what you have gone and done Mr Flynn - the site has become a confessional for refs.

Whilst we are at it then, I would like to apologise to Alec Brown for not giving him enough free kicks at a Whittlesey v Perkins game, to Brian Horton for not dissallowing a goal for Brentford reserves against Brighton reserves, to Rushden & Diamonds for not being able to do the line against Woking due to a knee injury, to Mick Belson's old boy for sending him off in a Nags Head Reserves v British Rail game and to Whittlesey Blue Star for deliberately not giving them a penalty in a game against Wimblington Old Boys because they were getting on my nerves.

Guys lighten up - this is local football and you make far fewer mistakes then the players (or managers!) and you are as entitled to the odd mare as anyone

Never mind Paul, Eynesbury Rovers on Boxing Day :snt:

Unfortunately i wont be Eynesbury on boxing day now. I have been transferred to Referee Potton vs Stotfold. At least its still a trip on the A1 and same kick off time.

Sorry for boring people with my confession - just thought i would criticise myself for the first time this season.

I can not believe you didn't post this topic after your blatant mistake and disallowing of my second against neherton the other week Paul.
Absolute travisty!!!!!!!!!

was at the game paul, must admit thought there was a few bad calls, but don't beat yourself up about it, its good to see that you are moving up in the ref ranks and all at psl do not hold a grudge. we ain't going to win the league so it was a nothing game really.

sad to say that AL has stepped down as manager, he say's he feels he ain't good enough at it and wants the club to progress and thinks it can do it without him as the gaffa.

the good news is he is staying here and still has the same dreams to build something.

and we are thankfull for that and his hard work. he is still involved with both our kids sides

Sad to see Al quit - unless they have someone else lined up, anybody want even money that he is back in charge in the New Year - it is in his blood!

Failing that Carefree, given the ongoing problems that you have with your fitness and your family tradition, I would have thought that you would be an ideal candidate?

Response to Rocket 7 - hey mate, as I explained at the time of the disallowed goal, it looked like a push from my angle. I think that was the only dodgy decision in the Lord Westwood v Netherton game. (Probably leaving myself wide open for criticism now)

If you were at Saturdays game you would have seen me mess up big time. If I had been marking the referee I would have given him a 3/10(at a push).

Anyway, I am sad to see the news that Al has stepped down from the position of manager. I have always found him honest and a very respectful person. Good luck for the future and I hope the dreams of the club to progress to a higher level are achieved in the not too distant future.

I cant beleive that AL has just decided to walk away from PSL .. surely there must be other factors.... i'm the Psl Res manager and i only spoke to him on Friday night . Ok , so he was short of a few players , but did'nt mention to me that he was stepping down.Like you said Tommy, i'm sure he will be back in footie ASAP !!! he thrives on the game ... and the Banter with Gino ....GUTTED !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm starting to worry that I have been around Mr Judge too long

From the man who told you first about Alec Brown, that PSL & Leverington had been fined £250, and that Woodlands had been thrown out of the PFA Cup (well sort of anyway!) comes another startling revelation.

PSL have already had a number of enquiries about taking over as manager - 2 are players currently playing in the Peterborough League - 1 has a Post Office connection and would be my favourite if really interested!

Latest Prices to be PSL manager on February 1st 2006: -

Postman Pat 2-1, Al Lenihan 4-1, Paul Cox 5-1, Alec Brown 8-1, Roger Daniels 16-1, Paul Daniels 16-1, John Hastings 16-1, Billy Burton 16-1, Lee Darcy 16-1, Shakie 16-1, Mick Belson 16-1, Graham Robinson 20-1, Mark Speechley 20-1, Jon Waller 20-1, Gino Agius 20-1, Big Jan 20-1, Raggy 20-1, Biffa Bacon 25-1, James Horner 25-1, Carefree 25-1, Harry Redknapp 25-1, John Cozens 25-1, Dave Pierre & Paul Moyses 25-1, Greg Lawrence 25-1, JB 50-1, Number 9 66-1, Colin Day 66-1, Terry Bannister 100-1, Alan Wilson 500-1

Anyone I've missed??

Sorry Tommy if you have been around me too long you have not learnt anything about accuracy
Leverington fine was a lot less than the 250 PSL have alleged to have been fined
And 500-1 about Wilson is a bit high more like 499-1

i'd just like to rule myself out of the running  (and unlike in the premiership this does not mean i will be unveiled as the new manager tomorrow!!)

seriously though i hope AL does a u turn cos he's a top man and a fair manager who'll always give you a chance.

have been assured that there will be no players leaving pboro sports to join other clubs, know what i mean seb? AL is still at the club but not as manager. and he has said no player will be leaving unless the new manager doesn't want them. never seen so many 7 days arrive all at once1 thought they were chrismas cards.

Suppose Al has got them all on contracts or they cant afford to leave

There has been a bit of late support for Alan Wilson who went for an interview on Wednesday. He rang me to tell me all about it last night - intend asking him if he thinks he will get it at some point, but I don't like to interupt him.

Apparently I missed out Phil Hastings from my list of contenders - bit of a dark horse selection from 1 of the current management fraternity?

LOL! I agree that it is sad to see AL leave PSL, but hopefully like the rest of us he wont be able to cut football out his life completely and will return.

Not sure of the present situation with Al but I also hope he has a re-think. The local league will be poorer without him, and this site also. Tommy very flattered to be at 16-1, the same odds as some very respected individuals. For the record have enough on my plate on Sundays, would love some help, and am very happy with what I'm doing already on Saturdays. Don't understand it but I actually enjoy it. Probally because I enjoy meeting some of the interesting individuals involved in our local league each week and the pre and after match banter is always entertaining.

My contacts tell me that Al will be back at the helm for PSL today and that Ben Lawrence might even be making a return for their cup game?

greg broder is at the helm for pboro sports untill the end of this season.
not sure what al's role is at the club but he's staying with them.

think he want's to spend more of his time with involvement with the youth develpement side of things
