I urge anyone that cares about our national football team to show the British tabloid press that this must stop, and to make an example of the News of the World by boycotting it between now and the start of the world cup.

If I'm not mistaken Sven was talking about players and his own abitions outside of the England job, of his own free will...
Entrapment??? I dont think so...
Sven has again been caught out undermining the England set-up, if he was a loyal decent manager the News of the World would have nothing to go on!
Not buying their ****e newspaper will not change the fact that Sven should have been replaced ages ago.

Come on lets get real, if England don't do well it will not be because of the News of the World!!!!
It'll most likely have something to do with the fact that the manager is an attention seeking media addict with superstar ambitions and an over enflated ego (his wife does not help either!)

I personally think England should reach the Quarter Finals and then it's anyones game really.
Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France etc all have similar chances.

Off-is-ed hasn't got the right stick, let alone the wrong end of it!
The point is that if the tabloid press continually determine to undermine the stability of the England team they will pobably suceed!
If the same "sting" was actioned against other national manager's i would wager that at least 50% of them would have come out of it looking equally as mercenary.
The point is that the foreign press are more inclined to get behind their national team, our tabloid press are spiteful and vindictive and HATE it when the FA ignore their mischief making.
My personal opinion is that Sven is definately NOT the right man for the job but to change your manager at this stage would be fool-hardy to say the least.
By the way he isn't married either!

Agreed.
Point is not what was or wasnt said, but that the press seek to be vindictive against their own team. And it will only get worse during the build up to Germany 2006.

Anyway, was forwarded the email myself, and will be passing it on to everyone in my address book, just thought I'd share it on here, and anyone who feels the same can join me.

you must be joking in saying other national managers dont suffer the same??? christ the South American public shoot you for dissent against the team the press support this view!!!!
What about Mick Mccarthy hounded out by the press over the Keane incident?
I'm sure an Iraqi manager and team were once publicly flogged for losing a game to Iran that came about due to the press coverage!
The italians are always on their managers case to do better as are the Spanish.... not to mention the Greek public and press who went beserk at not qualifying!

I'm not saying change Sven now because that'd be stupid, it should have been done ages ago...
Point being is we have a team that is world news because of all the high profile stars we have playing and the Prem league attracts most of the top players nowadays!
An England Manager should be 100% behind his team and should be savvy enough to know that if's he's snipping in private their will be newshounds that will find out.

get a decent savvy manager and the stories will vanish! don't try and lay any blame at the idiots in the press for reporting what is true....

One of my favourite topics.

Time to rant.

I'll only go back a bit. The press wanted Keegan in the job, they got him, well didn't the quiter leave us high and dry. Temp replacement Wilkinson, hold on, i'm still p*ssing myself, useless. No chance whatsoever of automatic qualification. The press come up with all sorts of wonderful ideas, 'Bring Venables Back', Joe Royle, Bryan 'Are you sure' Robson. They were just p*ssed cause the FA went for there own man, they probably lost a few quid at the bookies too.

Anyway, Sven not only got us automatically qualified, didn't we give the Germans a 'six pack of wup ass' at their place. Credit where credits due, his record is pretty good. I don't agree with everthing he does, but I do remember when I used to have to look in disbelief when Warren Barton and Geoff Thomas were playing.

The press don't like him because he's is own man and is not influenced by who they think should be playing. He puts in the effort, he's always at a game and who would you replace him with, six weeks ago they were saying Stuart Pearce at the weekend the News of the World had Tel as there choice and please don't even mention McClaren.

Bottom line for me is the Press in this country are c*n*s (and I hate that word). They aint interested unless someone is suffering. And that goes for the local rag too. Would love to see someone pull a sting on the NOTW sports editor and wreck his family, dangle a carrot and watch the hairy f*&ker squirm.
