Interesting item in the minutes of the league meeting
Next season clubs are asked to buy two Mitre footballs from Hereward Sports at 12 pounds each and will receive two free (bit like Tescos buy one get one free)
Last December on this forum it was suggested that with all the huge profits from the increase in fines almsot a 900 pounds a month clubs should be supplied with a football and month later hey presto.
At the time M Chambers said on this site
Come on surely you can not look at fines as contributions? It not meant to be a savings plan. And he is on the committee
Nothing to do with me Chris this was brought up by the Secretary. I do however feel that it is a good idea as it will bring a certain consistancy to the standard of matchballs being used at games. I sure you will agree that at the present time some of the balls being used are of differing quality. If the idea surfaced as a result of this forum then that is a tick in the right box for it. However I think it has more to do with the marketing ability of Hereward Sports, who have approached other leagues in the area. Fair play I say
however it came about it's a good idea and nice to get something back.
maybe the psml should follow this and do the same!

Interesting to see which Mitre ball it is and did the league approach Chroma Sports to see if a an even better deal could be done after alla lot of clubs deal with them over their kits etc and may prefer to buy from them
Or the other way round Chris. Did Chroma Sports approach the league. Because that is clearly what Hereward Sports must have done.?

When you are spending any substantial amount of money for whatever reason do you take just one quote
No you take a series of quotes and then select the best not always the cheapest. Also some clubs spend so much money over a season with Chroma Sports that they provide a good quality football free and I am sure that happens with Hereward Sports too.
Not only that just how good a quality ball are the League offering because not every Mitre ball is acceptable they do have some crap balls that are no better than training balls too.
A couple of years ago if I am not mistaken Hereward supplied balls to the Junior Alliance and they all had a big R on them and I think that stood for reject
Great idea but i think a few more facts need to come out
Chris would you be saying this if the vice-chairman of your club was not also the owner of Chroma Sports. I have a lot of time for Ian, who has been a great help to me over the years. However Hereward Sports appear to have got in first on this occasion. For once Chris, just once give the league some credit for doing something positive instead of claiming that the glass is always half empty and not half full. Good win for you today by the way!

If you were up to date Mark you would know that Ian is no longer the boss of Chroma so that puts that one to bed
Surely you always try to get the best possible deal unless you are a complete mug
Also is it a good deal if the ball is substandard and a lot worsre than clubs already use. Most peope use a decent Mitre its the Nike ball that is the problem unless youbuy the very best
Thanks for putting me straight with the Chroma situation. I did not know so I stand corrected. I am led to believe that the mitre balls being considered are of a high standard and apparantly there will be one available to look at at the next meeting.
I still feel that the committee deserve some credit for this idea instead of having cheap digs aimed at them like inferring that they do know anything about quality or that they are not capable of secure a good deal for all of the member clubs. Standardising the quality of the balls used can in my opinion only add to the professional manner that your league is run. Enough said on this matter anyway its a load of old balls.

Sorry about the cheap shot mark but just concerned the the league do get the best deal for a good quality ball and not a lesser one than a lot of clubs use anyway.
It is good to see the league giving the clubs back something especailly now they have such a huge pot of gold from the fines which I hope clubs will consider reducing from the 20pounds at the next agm

Am i correct in saying that the member clubs voted for fines to go up? If so,WHY?
Chris Judge

Because unfortunately Tom too many people go to the agm with the sole purpose of getting out as soon as poss and the hands go up
The chairman said it would stop there being so many mistakes by clubs but 20 for missing ou ta tick in the subs box is a but much
Why would anyone vote for an increase fron 10 to 20 is a mystery what happened to 15 for instance Better still 12 that is still a 20 per cent increase on the tenner.
Clubs do not have hidden treasures
Chris,
When did Chroma change hands ?

Next season clubs are asked to buy two Mitre footballs from Hereward Sports at 12 pounds each and will receive two free
UCL have requested all clubs buy mitre footballs (with UCL on them) from the same supplier I believe

I have spoken to Ian this evening and he wishes to clarify that there is a slight inaccurancy with regard to the running of Chroma. Micky Vincent is shortly to come on board as a partner of the business. There will be a press announcement in due course. I would personally like to wish two valued members of local sport all the very best in their new tie up.

That means I am ahead of the game again Mark. It gets so boring at times
It also means that Ian is still at the helm?
