    Thumbs up More referees . . .

    Macca Sports
I thought that I would just take a second to pay particular praise to the referee that officiated our last match versus Sawtry Reserves.

Not only did Mr Steven Hall communicate regularly and explain his decisions, he officiated with great authority and really commmanded the respect of both teams, in what was a hotly contested fixture.

People are quick to criticise officials, but not so quick to congratulate them when praise is due. Mr Hall is certainly worthy of praise on this occasion.

We had Geoff Siggins and we have never had a bad game reffed by him and again he done a great job. Let the game run and only blew when it was definately a foul. Warboys lads were moaning but expect nothing else from them.

I agree about Geoff and also Damon Pywell. Alan Swann had a good one for our Limetree game last week too.

PS - we didn't win when either Damon, Alan or Mr Hall officiated, but they are still worthy of praise!

Wouldn't it be nice to have all the "footballers" who use this site nominate the top referee's whenever they have a good game (Saturdays or Sundays - not 7 a side)), and not only when you win!
Perhaps Ross might put up an award - after all he's an assessor
Over a season you would be sure to find the best ref and there would be no need to name the "bad" ones because they just wouldn't get on the list. So no moaning just praising. Brings to the fore the thought for refs that they are appreciated..
Come on Raph/Ross a top whistlers thread...........

Have to agree Raph, we had Mr Hall earlier in the season and he was by far the best ref we have had for a very long time!! Only problem is that he comes from oakham (i think) and so was a little costly!!haha

    Still a very good ref!!

the top 2 would have to be a toss up between tommy flynn and swanny as they're head and shoulders above any of the others on the peterborough football scene, i do like geoff siggins too and i'm sure his profile is going up all the time. another good one will be a shock for most people-reg parker! if you don't give him s**t and have some light hearted banter with him from the off he really is a very good ref(and yes in my younger, moaning and less respectful days i felt the reg parker wrath!).

Geoff siggins, Damon Pywell, Tommy Flynn, and Nicolai (do not Know how to spell his name) are all very good referee's also John Bedford, the thing all these referee's have in common is good referee's but you can also talk to them unlike some.

Dunno if anyone knows of him but 2 weeks ago we had some young lad Ref our game and i thaught he was fantastic!!

Every descion he gave right or wrong (if challanged by the player) he explained quickly why he gave it!!! excellent its what we want to hear. Not just go away.
He had some cracking banter with us all on the park and tried to let play go on as often as possible, which is always a good thing.

For me he is going places but lik ei said did not catch his name!!

Don't know if it was the same lad, but we had Daniel Hanna last week against Langtoft and i thought he did very well. hopefully one for the future! Ref's who talk to players and managers as if they are people and not someone to punish as if you are a teacher and we are naughty schol kids (Charlie keats i really hope you read this!!!!!) will always get good reports from me.
i would like to see a referees tabel from the teams involved! Should / could be interesting!

We had a young lad refiing SSPIO ressies v Manea Saturday, to be honest thought he looked like he would be easily intimidated, on top of this he was being assessed but i thought he did a great job!

Second week in a row we have had a good ref.

If you read this Mr Windle hope you gave him a good assessment!

Already mentioned this in the Sunday am thread, but our last 2 games we've had Swanny reffing us and he has been spot on, explained decisions when questioned and handled any given situation well.
Also had Geoff Siggins and Damon Powell earlier in the season and both were superb each time.

Not even going to talk about ours on saturday. Completely lost control of the game. No point in even having the 2 linos there as he went against every decision of BOTH teams.

We had Ozzy this weekend great guy but what a joke when it comes to making descions!! he just swans around ready to collect his pay check at the end of the game!! We should of had 2 pens 1 a stone waller and it was delib hand ball stopping a clear goalscoring opp!!! Then there lino waves our striker offside form a backpass because their centre half missed the ball and Ozzy gives it which tells me he is not even paying attention to who is passing the ball where!! On this occassion again our striker was clean thru again and worst off all it was a semi final we lost.

Josh Smith was his name Justin and he did very well; reflected in the mark which I gave to him. (We did not win this game, so that is not the reason either!)

Ross is there any way we could do a league table for referee's next season you know like an average rating system or something obviously it would have to be visable to everyone but only one member from each team able to put the marks in.

    Jock,

You are correct the lad was first class and clearly destined for much higher levels. Predict within 5 or 6 years you will be watching him on MOD. Daniel Hannah is his name - remember where you first heard the prediction.
