Got up this morning and im really pi**ed off ith yeterdays game. What a joke to find1 of peterboroughs top refs (Geoff Siggnings) watching the game while the guy who reffed was arrogant, un approachable and a damm dissgrace to the game. You work hard all year and then 1 guy turns up doesnt know the league situation and puts a performance that can only be described a s a joke. Both sets of players were walking round lauging at him. All people atching the game were laughing at him and yet this guy thought it was christmas handing out cards t everbody for just asking him a question at normal tone voice. The game saw numerous players booked from both sides. Fletton beta Ral 4-1 no qurm in the resultas we let oursleves downbut he let everybody down.
Following thisabimal display after the game, the guy was wlalking off next to me and jock and we asked him for his name and he blankley refused WHY?? Then he showed a lack of respect and refused to even talk to us until he was changed. Then said as the gme was finshed andhe was changed didnt want to discuss it. Anyone knowthis guys na he appaertly was reffng in the conference Saturday?
If thats the ase Geof you'll be in the BARCLAYS PREM next yea buddy!

No complaints from AK 11...Thanks Fletton for doing us a favour, looks like my little talk with Kev Brisley during Saturdays game paid off :-)..Im glad we won the league considering we had 4 points deducted this season and of course only had ourselves to blame for so its a relief we didnt lose the league due to them points
Well done to Whittlesey tho for winning the other 2 cups and for making this season interesting.... Fletton were also right up there this season and played well in both Cup finals.....will be interesting to see who gets second spot
As Micky clearly stated the Ref was awfull, and the ugly situation of RESPECT has reared its head again.
During the game at 1-1 we had what we all thought was a stonewall penalty and the ref said the def got the ball and to be frank even the fletton players said that was a shocking descion, but you get yer chin up and get on with it. But the ref had other ideas and through out the game he made mistake after mistake after mistake and would not let anyone talk to him and have a wee bit of fun. There was also as clear as you like handball which stopped our striker going thru 1-1 with the score still locked at 1-1.
Then with Fletton winning 3-1 we had a player who in the box went to shoot and was clattered and when we all clamied penalty he said it was a fair challange,so your thinking well its a corner then m8, nope he said that it was a 50-50 ball and although the player made no contact with the ball he made no attempt to take the player so therefore no foul was occuurd!!( although he took the player out)id really apprieciate an explination on that 1!!!.
Well done Fletton tho who won out 3-1 winners Micky not 4-1 lol.
After the game while walking off not like some silly people i was trying to ask why he made his descions which i think is only fair and Micky asked for his name and he refused to give it!!Im pretty sure that this is emmm not legite but i could be wrong. Ross.!!!
I then said look ref as players we are told to respect you but how can you respect someone who wont entertain anything you have to say to them its give and take. And if you make a mistake then hold yer hands up and say sorry lads i made a mistake not easy to accept granted but as a plyer you apprieciate it but respnose was " didnt make any mistakes im always right" so my reponse was how can you gain respect in the game when you have an arrogant tos!er like that in charge. No doubt that will get me into some kind of trouble.
Like Micky says be very interesting to find out who he was seeing as he refused to give his name which says it all for me!!!
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
Been a great season and we will be right up for Sundays game against Fletton on sun as we all want 2nd spot!!
Well done on winning the league, you deserve it on the fact you beat us twice in league and fletton once.
2 cup wins for us was fantastic considiring we had you in both the semis and fletton in 1 final.
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
Christ.
It's no wonder referees can't be arsed anymore.
Fair enough if the ref's had a bad game, come on here and debate the decisions. Calling him a ****** and a disgrace to the game isn't going to engender more officials to take up the whistle, or even stop them jacking it in.
Andy i agree, i should not have called him a tos!er but at least i am man enough to come on here and say it, like if i have a bad game ill admit it. But the ref in question, in his words he never has a bad game. for me thats arrogance at its most!! Hence why i also said no doubt the comment will get me into some kind of trouble.
But i also no alot of refs who have good and bad games and i can have some great banter with them before, during and after the game and also talk about their performance like they talk about mine or the 2 teams playing.
Andy dare i ask are you a referee or even the ref from yesterday???
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
Haha Shaun, read over what you just said. At least im man enough to come onto here(a forum) and say it.
Thats all i got
Those with moderator duties, be very careful.
I am a ref, but only Sunday mornings.
I'm sure i make the odd howler, but am always happy to explain why i've given a decision the way i have.
However, 30-odd people v the ref won't make them all that keen to spend 20 minutes after the game debating the decisions made.
Yes please fellas.
With regards to the rest of the thread. Put yourself in the referees shoes, it can be a very lonely place for a referee, you feel very isolated, and if the referee has had a bad game, or there was a controversial decision, the last thing he is going to want to do is hang around, and make himself a target for 22 angry players, plus a number of supporters.
Guys, if you are that unhappy about his performance, for gods sake let the league know, give him a low mark, and write a report to back it up. (which in my experience no one does)
If the referee does not wish to discuss the game, then simple fact it, he doesnt have to. Unless its in the competition rules, that he has to then fair enough, but it sure as hell isnt in the Laws of Association Football.
One thing i do know is if the referee in question gets named in this thread, wave goodbye to it
Was it Tom Henning Ovrebo?
Ross we cant name the ref as we dont no who he was lol
I do understand that as a Ref it can be a lonely place, but in all fairness thats a place he choses to be. Nobody forces him to do the job and all i asked him as a player was why he didnt give certain decsions. Although he does not have to tell me im pretty sure that if this respect thing is ever going to work then it must be a give and take situation.
I dont want to go on and on about it but i thought that the site was for people to have a little opinion and debate about theese kind of descions.
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
Thats exactly why the site is here Shaun. It is here for people to air their thoughts and views on certain situations.
Yes Shaun, you are correct, the referee does choose to put himself in that situation, but dont forget without that referee, you have no game. Yes, respect does need to work both ways, and from what ive read from the above posts, i cant say i agree with the way he handled this situation. It could have been handled better. Like ive always said, a referee doesnt have to explain anything, but in my experience, and from what i advise other referees that i assess, it does help in certain situations.
When i referee, i speak to players the exact same way they speak to me, come at me shouting, expect to be shouted at back, simple! Come and talk to me in a civil manner, and i will treat you exactly the same way. I have officiated games, where i couldnt wait to get away at the end, purely because of what had happened in the game. I knew that i would have a tirade of questions, which to be honest i didnt want to answer. I explained this to both clubs, although they werent particularly happy about it, they respected my decision. I did however, when i went back to officiate these teams again, answer their questions.
One thing to remember though, referees are human afterall, they do have bad days (even the best of them, Chelsea v Barcelona anyone?) just that when they do have a bad day, every bugger notices it. There is no where to hide. I sometimes wish more players would take the course, and referee a few games, i still believe that once you put yourself in a refs shoes your outlook on them changes.
I am the manager of Real Whittlesey and yes the ref had a poor game and got most of the big decisions wrong in my opinion. The missed penalty just before half time was the most blatant I and all 22 players, subs and spectators agreed, but he made his decision just accept and move on.
He had a bad game but then again so did some of my players - if we had all done our jobs to the best we wouldn't be having this debate.
And yes I am also a referee and Ross is right, once you've been there you do see things from a different view.
Been a great season though, done Whittlesey proud and can't wait for next season.
Lookin forward to next season! Playing decent sides every week rather than turning up hammered and still winning by 7 or 8 goals. Whittlesey and AK11, looking forward to playing you guys, especially AK, we owe you one ( Drew 3-3 in a decent game then played you a few weeks later and let ourselves down losing 4-1) Whittlesey, not played you yet but you guys sound like a good laugh so up for a decent game then a bit of a drinking comp!
