Here's a question for you....
The League send you an invoice but it's actually the wrong one, it's an invoice for a £20 fine, for late result sheets, the invoice has another teams name written on it - they've sent you someone elses fine!
You post it back to the league and ask them what's going on!
4 weeks later and you've heard nothing, so presume it's their error and they've sorted it.
But after reading the league minutes you find your club is outstanding a £10 fine -
You contact the league and ask what the deal is, why are they telling the world you owe money without asking you for it 1st etc?
Their reply is this:
You owe us £10 for sending in 1 result sheet in late (it's in the rules but it's a lame thing to get fined for...), you mention the fact they sent you the wrong invoice and you'd posted it back to them and then heard nothing back, so surely it's evens?
They say that once they received the wrong invoice back, they sent it on to the right team and asked them to forward the correct one to you, the other team didn't bothe.(no surprise!).
So - do you pay it, or not? based on the fact they are fining you for late/missing paperwork, yet the paperwork process they've used while trying to fine you, is a total mess???![]()
Dirty little money-grabbers! Ashley Cole should go work for the PDFL.
It's the PSMFL mate... usually quite good to be fair, but this one does make me think it's a bit of a joke!
Sean for m8 you dont pay it, if they are fining you for late paper work yet they dont even send you the correct fine and then have the excuse we asked the other team to do it is rubbish.
If you phoned and said the paper work was ment to be sent by a friend and he forgot would they accept that, i doubt it very much. I no its only £10 and im guessing you have paid it but for me its the principle and opens a can of worms for the PSMFL as how can you have double standards m8!!
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
I have not paid it as yet mate as it does smack of double standards,
I asked the league to have a think and get back to me, when they did they said I still owed it...
I wasn;t happy, so I laid it out like I've just done on here and asked them to re-think, I'm still awaiting a reply.
The thing is, the 1st error was from a really solid chap on the PSMFL, he had a very valid reason for the error and I fully understand it, but it's still an erro,r that was then compacted by asking another team to send me the paperwork and then not checking they had done so.
To then print publicly that we owe money, before checking we'd been notified properly can't be on surely?
It's a tiny fine and the intial error understandable, but the principle is there?
Two wrongs don't make a right Sean!
BOTN - In this instance it is very much a matter of principle - the fines that we pick up as clubs are by definition a result of administration errors on our part - I dont believe that any of us deliberately miss information etc of teamsheets, it happens - likewise I am sure that the PDFL dont deliberately make mistakes, but it happens - in this instance, in my opinion, they should use a little common sense and waive the fine -
Alternatively, and I dont know how this would stand up, but perhaps we, as clubs (and after all its our league) should suggest that clubs should be compensated by the league when the league make the error, at the very least it would be entertaining to have the boot on the other foot for a change so to speak![]()
Just an interesting point for debate I thought... it's the principle in it, that I found interesting.
How can you possibly fine anyone for lax paperwork, when the method you use to fine them totally falls apart, with paperwork all over the place and the people being fined not actually notfied until they read it in a public notice?
I'll most likely pay it if they insist we have too as it's just a £10, but the mere fact they intially would not consider binning it after I pointed out the errors, tells a story?
