Probably a one off.
It will be back to the usual sporting headlines next week.....some "great player" grabbing 25 goals in a lowly Div 10 game no doubt!! Whoopee!!
Sports writing at its best!
That or the progression report of the chosen one, Mr M Baines!!
Keep behaving like a football team and you will get good press, that's the answer !! You might pick up some silverware along the way, good start so far and there must be a few golden goal tickets being sold along the way as well, how long before some UCL manager who hadn't planned properly for the season nicks a few of the players though ?
Not long Spec.

Not all of us want to hear about the P'boro Sat Prem and the 'world class players'that grace their games each week.
Lads that get mentioned in the lower leagues are just as deserving and on the odd occassion just as good a player/team anyway!
Speaking as someone who is involved with a 'Lowly' Sunday side, we're all happy to see others in our 'Lowly' leagues get mentioned and would sooner read about lads and games at our level rather than the 'ego's that have landed' in and around the Sat Prem leagues![]()
The players you speak about though are they not the people that should be playing at a higher level? i know plenty of players that play div 4/5 and could easily get on the prem. if they wanted but they dont.
although i played for the star for 5 years and some of the games were just stupid. i guess not much difference in either division at the moment.
Why dont you get your team in the prem then BOTN
After 6 years and a lot of trials and tribulations, top of the league at last!! Fully deserved, enjoy it and stay there!!
what were todays scores??
well done lads i'm well chuffed for you!
Gotta keep it going now Al, You Don't win the league in December but well done!! Now the real pressure starts to tell as not many in your team been in this position before as favourites and top!!
HAHAHAHA We plays Sundays mate, and are working our way up, I took over our club when they were rock bottom of the bottom league, we're now joint top of the 3rd (promotion and Northants cup final in my 1st full season) a fair few of my players used to play either in the Sat Prem or 1st div but they all gave it up to play Sundays as they were fed up of all the hassle that Saturdays bring, not to mention it takes up ALL of your day - not good for family life......Originally Posted by Harbs
I gave up Sat footy years ago, the lower leagues are good value but the Prem is a nightmare in my opinion, managers get messed about, decent players get messed about and there's more than a few ego's that rate themselves far far to highlyplus the people that run the league are a nightmare to deal with by all accounts, who would want all that hassle???
People who do manage it have their work cut out and rather them than me!
of course back of the net you are so correct its common knowledge how well sunday football is run in this city!![]()
JB, sorry mate, Where in my last post did I say that Sundays were better run???Originally Posted by jb
Everyone knows that the organisation of Sundays plus the ref situation isn't the best, although I can't recall when a ref was last chinned on a Sunday? bit contentious that one - sorry!
What I was trying to say is that a lot of decent players and Managers steer clear of the Sat Prem because of the red-tape and ego's that are involved, some love it - some don't, That's all mate!
Don't go getting all 'emotional' and thinking that everyone outside of the Prem hates it, I'm sure lots aspire to it, just not me right now, or many others I know of (and many of I don't know of I'm sure ) that are good enough to be there.
I'm not on a wind up or trying to stir, just pointing out that perhaps players/managers from perceived 'lowly' leagues (as was quoted earlier in this discussion by someone else) are in fact just as worthy of press mentions and sometimes just as good, if not better, than some of the people involved with Sat Prem league!!!
plus the people that run the league are a nightmare to deal with by all accounts, who would want all that hassle???
sounds like you prefer dealing with the peterborough sunday league more than you would the saturday league? thats what my last post was about.
i think its time the local councils etc stopped ripping off non-profit making football clubs and charging ludicrous pitch fees and that money could go into the running of the sat and sunday leagues. dropping match fees by about £10 per game would be a fantastic income for the leagues. this could then be used for many things-one being training and re-training referees and some kind of referee recruitment drive.
being a nightmare to deal with is different to being useless mate...![]()
The point I was making there is that many people in charge of rulings etc for the Sat Prem know what they're doing and they do it to be awkward it seems - Sunday guys are just rubbish and we laugh it off cause it matters little to us!
on the pitch fee thing - lets not think the leagues are skint, with fines and registration fees most of them operate in the 10's of thousands of pounds bracket (am sure the PSMFL have £20k+ in the bank!) so they do have the money but they are bloody to awkward to release it and spend it where it's needed at times...
I think £40 or £50 for a local/council pitch is fair enough, you have to pay the groundsman and supply hot water etc and keep the pitch in order, what other sporting activity could 22+ people play for 90 mins on a private area with changing facilities for less?
anyway mate glad you didn't take offence to any of my posts, I aint part of the Prem so I guess my opinions shouldn't count for much!
quality result al.
hellooooooo spiderman where are you?
Long way to go but, has Hampton's bubble burst?
