Fat Club Challenge
I challenge you, Mr Tommy Cooper and you Mr Mark Speechley (aka Spec) to a weight loss competition.
Like all challenges, this will involve a bet.
Conditions:-
1) All parties must attend Weight Watchers on Monday 8th January 2007 for the official weigh in, and then at an agreed weekly date.
2) Goal - first person to lose two stone is the winner. there is no time limit
3) No cheating!!!!
Bet:-
The two losers must put £200.00 behind the bar of the winning persons team.
In Tommys case, it will have to be an event as he has no team at the moment!
I realise that this has left us open to people partaking of the Michael but its all in good spirit, let the game commence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree to the challenge in principle, however I have some stipulations of my own: -
1. I am not going to any fcuking weight watchers meeting! Happy to have the weigh in on at Perkins first training session in January.
2. This should be a lifestyle change that runs until November 30th 2007 - (on the basis that dieting in December is sad and illegal) anyone (me especially) can lose 2 stone and put it back on again. It should be the person who loses the most weight in % terms between those dates that is determined as the winner, so it is fair on those that don't have such a bad starting position.
3. The person who loses the most decides upon the charity to which anyone else that takes up the challenge donates. Donation can be whatever each individual feels comfortable but must be declared at the outset. I will pledge £500.
4. There should be at least 3 of us on it - a few suggested participants: -
Robbo, Wils, Alex Brown, Paul Cox, Al Lenihan, Spec, Dave Beeny, Darren Fogg, Chris Judge, Richie Baines, The Fletton Midfield and the great Waldo (who is of course Jon Waller).
Bring on the binge diet!

The Tommy Target
Lose 1lb between January 2nd & 5th
Lose 2lb a week for 10 weeks from Friday January 5th to holiday on Friday March 16th.
Put on 7lb during 3-week Caribbean holiday for Cricket World Cup
Lose 2lb a month from April to November inclusive.
= 2 stone taken off + repeat in 2008
Sounds easy when said like that!
NB: Being someone who does not like upsetting people unduly, can I please confirm that at no point did Jon Waller really tell me that Al Lenihan had put weight on over Xmas. Al remains as ever a sleek racing machine, whilst I fear "The Walrus" is already beginning to feel the pressure of the challenge before it has even started.

I`m all for charity but i still think for the sake of the banter the bet should still be with the clubs?
-
you sound like a man who is really going to do this Gino ! Am up for it and will happily represent Psl if requested. Lets get the runners and riders sorted and the weigh in done!
Gino 4/5 Spec 3/1 Tommy 3/1 Waller 5/1....any other runners??

Want the weigh in earlier Gino - do Perkins still train?
If so we can do your first session after Jan 1st.
I will represent whichever club will have me! - good idea in that respect, though my last weight loss raised £1000 for Macmillan and it would be nice if something positive came out the other side as well as 4 fitter people less likely to be a drain on the nations medical resources over the next few years.
Off to have some more trifle - got a box of after 8's to finish off - then there is that Turkish delight, and the rest of the Xmas cake - Mmmmmm

Thats fine by me Tommy. My last day on the drink will be new years eve. I`ve always said its more the beer with me than the food. Not training for a few weeks into the new year (Work) but your welcome to call a time and place??????????

Al - do PSL do something as silly as train? - if so we could go to their first one - any ideas Walrus / Spec / Tommy.F? (Cathedral Square at mid-day on January 1st!!!)
I need to do it before Jan 8th, as I fear I may die if I have to keep eating lots until then.
Also need some suggestions about a club I can represent - don't want to just say Ortonians and leave you all feeling inferior, inadequate and beat before we start!

Despite my undying respect for Moulton, I am not sure that I am ready to make a leap of that kind Al.
No, I shall represent the Royal Oak. Since Matt Leftley departed I am the only fat bloke in this pub.
If we can't agree a date and venue for the weigh in, then I may do a live webcast from my bedroom on January 2nd, as I heave my semi naked temple of a body onto my scales with the help of hydraulic lifting equipment.
-
everyone loves a freak show Tom, that could be a more popular webcast than that Sandi Thom's flowers in the hair effort!
I agree the sooner the better for the weigh in, and i take it's % of body weight as i am a stone less than you guys!!
How long will the competition last??
