Saxons appoint new Head Coach for 2010

With their annual ‘Gathering’ recruitment event just around the corner, the Peterborough Saxons are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Wallis who returns as Head Coach for the 2010 season.
A catalyst for the Saxons recent successes, Wallis lead the team in 2005 where he transformed a club on the verge of folding into a well ran, competitive Division 2 outfit. Since then, the Saxons have made the playoffs twice, and most recently, survived promotion to the British American Football League’s Division 1 to signal their ongoing development.
Wallis meanwhile has been busy adding to an already impressive CV spanning 20 years in the game, leading league newcomer Bedfordshire Blue Raiders to the playoffs in only their second competitive season and is motivated to return by what he describes as “unfinished business” with the Peterborough side.
Club Chairman Mark Kerr said “It’s a privilege to have Chris back at the club – it’s not been an easy process and there were many factors threatening to keep him away from the game but we’ve worked hard to come up with a package that works for us all, I cant wait to see him get to work with some of the weapons he’ll have available”
Wallis added “I always intended to be involved in football somewhere in 2010, but I didn't expect to have the opportunity to coach the Saxons again so soon. I'm looking forward to the challenge and I can't wait to get back to practice, and away from the DIY on Sundays again.”
With the coaching staff taking shape and announcements to follow, the buzz surrounding the club is back and you can experience Saxon Football first hand at the Gathering, Sunday 22nd and 29th October.
