C'mon lads play nicely !
Our club is about each and every one of the lads we have signed, I like to think we have a team of good players, Matty being one. If you doubt that, ask Matty, who is a bright and articulate lad, who is very much his own man, and for those busy little bees (you know who you are!), suggest you remember that when you try to decide whats best for him in the third person!!!!
Matty is a quality player l dont think there is any doubt about that and at our level I would expect him to shine - personally think he can play higher than the PDFL, and Micky and I would do all we could to help him, if thats what he wants, because at the end of the day he is our mate - and true mates want the best for their buddies right?
If and until Matty decides thats what he wants to do - take note all you busy little bees out there - I do mean what Matty wants to do, we, of course, are happy to have him as our skipper playing and enjoying his football with his mates -and those mates, by the way are a talented bunch in their own right, so our club, with or without any one individual will continue to flourish -
Looking forwards to the season ahead - hope you all have a good one
Safe hands Did we draw with you 1 all by any chance, took me a little bit of working out but got it now!!! We will undoubtedly miss Tin Tin as in my opinion he is the best at his role in Peterborough. But without Steff, Sam and Briggs in midfield with him he would only be 1 player together they are the cogs that's will drive Bluestar to victory after victory!
Got to agree about matty being a great player who no doubt influences the players around him, but come on 1 player isnt the difference between a your team winning or losing its the entire squad from the starting 11 to the lads on the bench ( oh n the management ).
Thats like saying a team that has had half a dozen prem players ( or ucl ), dop down to join them should win there league easily hands down????? but will it actually happen??? No! not unless every1 can work together as a TEAM, hence football is a TEAM game....
Just my opinion....good luck to all in there respective leagues

Sorry number 9, not the game you were thinking of! And obviously pre season games aren't always the best to make judgement on and I don't know if it was your whole side out....but matt was certainly the stand out performer for you guys. Not just for his goal threat but defensive work too.
Jimmy, can't help but wonder if your comment about players dropping down is aimed at anyone in particular lol! But I do think at that level somebody with matt's ability is able to individually affect the result of a game. I believe you were at the game I was referring to and I'm sure you'd agree he was head and shoulders there best player on that day.
I must admit that my initial comment was made slightly tongue in cheek and I certainly didn't mean to provoke the reaction I got! And I certainly don't think bluestar would lose every week without matt.
Anyway, good luck for the season.

Got u safe hands, the game in question we did have a scratch side but correct Matt was the best player on the park bar none! He was comfortably the best player out of the 2 sides! We still lost that day! That day with no steff, baker or sammy Newman or jock we loomed light weight! We have the best sponsors in the business and my sole aim is to give my mates(player) the platform to play on at the level they should!! I'm sure they could do that with me and Bluestar and get more from it!
Safe hands its an interesting subject as no doubt Matty is a huge presence in our team and yes he is a match winner and a great player with a fantastic attitude hence why he is our skip and a player im am very pleased to call a very good friend. Yes he would be missed but we have match winners in the whole team and Tin Tin plays so well because he is enjoying it!! then again it would be also very interesting to see how your lot would do without Mr Gibbs. Guess you would find yerself in the same situation.....
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
I think my point is more the fact that he is much too good to play at that level rather than the rest of the squad not being capable....I just wondered if your results might be slightly less emphatic without him. Not that you'd lose every week!
Gibbo is a very important player for us there's no doubt about that. Having said that we still have three or four others who played for the prem rep side last year....so I wouldn't say he's our only big player. We still had some good pre season results while he wasn't available. Gaz is a top lad and obviously capable of playing higher than division one.
Feel like I'm repeating myself now so I'll leave it at that but like I said originally just my opinion.
Again, all the best this year.
ben my comment wasnt made at anyone or any team in particular, but its a fact that if any player(s) drop down below there usual level they should have some kind of positive effect to the team and the players around them, it tends to give evry one a lift and a buzz that a player of that calibre is playing in there team....everyteam has a player that stand out, matt will no doubt stand out at bluestar, but that shows a positive attitude from there club on where they are aiming to be playing there football

The general consensus after our game with Whittlesey is that you'd probably be a much more effective "unit" without Matty as everything seems to go through him and he clearly feels that being head and shoulders above everyone else he needs to do everything in the team which probably stops others in the team expressing themselves. It's not a criticism at all as it's clearly very effective! I think the point I'm trying to make is that without Matty blue star will still be as good, albeit in a much different style.
And he's way to good for the prem let alone div 2!!
It will be at least a week ... we haven't got a game Saturday.
Is he going then?
Probably just helping them out midweek or when Bluestar dont have a game. We have it the other way when M Baines isnt playing for his team.
Are you looking for bites or something?
He will play for us when they haven't got a game, no problem with a player progressing and getting paid! I hope he does well but Bluestar is not about 1 player!
Wasn't looking for a bite, there's been enough of them on this subject!
Was just curious to be honest, fair play to the lad and good luck to him....nothing wrong with trying to better yourself at a higher standard. Nobody should stand in any player's way if that's what they want to do.
Good luck to everybody else at Bluestar too.
Could have fooled me Safehands - thought you called time on this one on the 6th Sept ?
Its nice to see you other lads giving my lad a bit of support -much appreciate that chaps - Think its understandable that he gets a bit bristly on occassion, after all he's 25 years old, and managing a team, with all that that entails, and after an excellent pre- season he has had to re-adjust his plans, however Matty is one of his best mates and he will do all he can to see him progress.
Personally I am proud of the job Micky is doing - dont forget Matty hasn't suddenly landed from another planet - he was head and shoulders the best player at Whittlesey United last year, and yet strangely he didnt figure in Humpy's rep team and was often relegated to the bench.
Now call me an old Cynic but I find it strange that certain Whittlesey United lads have shown far more interest in Matty moving up this year than they ever did last - no doubt he benefitted from last season in the PDFL Prem but I wonder would they have been so keen to see him move if he had remaided with them this season - i think not!
Micky will get Blue Star, to where he wants them, of that I have no doubt, after all they are in his blood, he is bound to be disappointed, but I promsie you he is also as proud as punch at Matty's achievement - after all its a Blue Star player rather than a Whittlesey United player, Deeping have signed, and Micky knows the quality he still has at Blue Star will ensure he will be a success.
Good luck to Matty at Deeping, i've not played alongside/seen him play too often but the lad has got talent and should be playing as high as possible at his age!!
I'm sure he will succeed at Deeping and given his connections at bluestar, i'm sure he will continue to support and help them out whenever he possibly can!! Micky gets a lot of stick (not only from this site) but in general about what he's trying to acheive (and sometimes how he approaches things) but i'm finding out now how difficult it is to run a football team and so fair play to what he is trying to acheive and as they are in different competitions to my team (except maybe one county cup??) i hope that they acheive it and i look forward to locking horns at some point in the future i'm sure!!
