He's committed and a little "dirty", but I don't think he actually wants to break other player's bones. Being dropped from the Oranjes squad will probably help him to reflect a little, for the future.
what you on about why??
De Jong has been dropped from the Dutch squad, because he has a reputation of being a dirty tackler and at the weekend he broke Ben Arfa's leg in two places with such a challenge.
Totally agree with the decision to drop him, I dont see any place in the game for people who continually cause serious injuries to other players.
It gives totally the wrong example to kids and even adults watching the game as to what is acceptable and what isnt. We had an idiot in our game on saturday that after a late and high tackle which he got booked for, jump up proud as punch and brag that he'd tried to break our players leg.
Absolute disgrace.
De Jong's looked a bad tackle on TV, but he got away with it on the day 'cos he got the ball as well.
Did you see Henry for Wolves? Now that was a very bad tackle and fair play to Mick McCarthy for his comments afterwards. Henry was lucky a few weeks ago against Newcastle cos he absolutely smashed Joey Barton on more than one occasion, but got his deserved red card this week.
Foxy
All part and parcel of the game lads stop being big girls. ha
Mind you i dont agree with the bragging about trying to break someones leg thats plain stupid!
Specially when were all here to have fun hey.
I agree with a strong tackle but only in the mould of Stuart Pearce, where you aim to take the ball as strongly as possible; not trying to take the player with your trailing leg too or injure them on purpose.
Like Essien did on sunday, think it was on song or diaby
Essien is in that same bracket for sure
I must be missing something, I dont think he meant that at all guys.
I feel he is focused on a hard challenge.
Raph i have seen you go in knowing you wont get the ball but because it doesnt break someones leg no one gives a ****.
Mind you now i have seen the tackle i gotta say ben arfa doesnt seem like he is gonna let it bother him!
There's a difference between me clipping someone's heels and De Jong going for the middle of their tibia/fibula Harbs!
What do you mean Ben Arfa doesn't seem like he's gonna let it bother him?
I only saw the tackle once and based on that one viewing in slomo i didnt think he meant it... a clip can break an ankle raph.
Just in the paper I saw him waving with a smile on his face while being stretchered off and read an article with him saying he'll be back and better than before.
what i mean by that is it sounds like he's not going to let the break phase him.
Ah okay. If Essien may have been guilty for bad challenges before, he certainly isn't now. Could have been instructions given to him by previous managers, but I'm certain that Carlo (as a former master of "the beautiful game") would never give that instruction.
A clip from behind would only break your ankle Harbs![]()
Your not wrong mate and I agree about Essien, his game has got even better since Carlo took over.
He is so important to chelsea right now.
Slow mo replays always make challenges look worse than they are, but it looked pretty bad to me and it weren't so long ago he ninja kicked Alonso to the ground, personally i think he is a bit mental, theres nothing wrong with being committed but i think he oversteps the mark.
And i fully agree with safeHands.
Time for a croissant and a yogurt yummy yummy
In all fairness every club has had a player that is in the physical or a lil harder in a challenge.... name me any side and ill name you at least 1 player in that mould!!
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
