Peterborough Saxons are on the hunt for new talent with players, coaches and volunteers invited to attend a series of open tryouts taking place between now and Christmas.

The sessions are designed to educate and evaluate whilst giving newcomers the opportunity to meet with current members of the Saxons playing, coaching and management staff.

Newcomers will be put through their paces under the supervision of returning Head Coach Chris Wallis, who with a track record spanning over 20 years in the British game ranks as one of the most experienced coaches plying their trade in the country today.

Since 2005, the Saxons have demonstrated a sustainable approach to player development with an emphasis on recruiting young British talent, some of whom have gone on to play in Premier Division bowl games, or try out for the Great Britain Lions.

The club is also looking to maintain an upward trend spanning 5 years, in which they have continued to improve upon their record season after season, most recently finishing one win shy of a playoff birth in only their second Division 1 campaign.

Club Chairman Mark Kerr adds “Playing for the Saxons does not guarantee you a bowl game, that is not what we’re about. Our players are expected to work hard, listen to their coaches and apply themselves and in return we believe we provide an unrivalled level of off field support. We’ve proven year in year out that when we all deliver on those promises, the results take care of themselves.

The club recently launched a revamped website (http://www.thesaxons.co.uk) which has attracted almost 150 unique visitors in the first week, and provides the quickest and easiest way to register to attend an open tryout. Simply visit the recruitment tab, and complete the form provided or alternatively, contact Chairman Mark Kerr on 07883 070221.
