Default Netherton Club house burned down

    Macca Sports
Thank you very much to whoever decided to burn our club house down on saturday night.

    Tossers.

Hope you achieved whatever it was you set out to do. You just robbed the community of one of the few genuine facilities it has.

We may be posh boys, but think there are many people who want to dish out one hell of a beating if we ever find out the arseholes who did it.

thats not good news matt, but by your posting on here it sounds like you think it could be a revenge thing from a player or club???

i think it would more then likely be kids hanging out then the stated above.

    not guilty!

i have always said that the grange would always be a target for this kind of thing. whilst it may be in a decent area it is a thoroughfare and used by many little scumbags as this has shown.

hopefully perpetrators will get caught and exposed for us all to see. every season there are clubs that seem to lose their facilities for various reasons and its a shame that netherton and as matt said the community have needlessly lost a valuable facility(for the time being anyway!)

I completely agree with what Matt is saying - the toerags that have burnt down the clubhouse deserve to be set up fire themselves (sorry I'm not very PC and its obviously their upbringing or boredom as are the usual excuses)

Are Netherton Utd going to be setting up a "Rebuild the Netherton United clubhouse Fund"

I will happily donate any money that I get for officiating in local cup finals this season (ok, forget that idea as that would be nothing)

Instead it would have to be a UCL match fee to help fund rebuilding a truely community used facility.

how gutting that must be.. I too hope whoever did it is caught ..
Hopefully no one involved in local football could be so spiteful as to do this and I'd side with it most likely being passers by and/or local youths getting drunk/high and doing something stupid without thinking about it.

I would gladly donate in time and/or money to a 'rebuild the Grange' fund

genuinely great to hear all the stuff people are saying on here, and thank you.

Carefree, don't think it was anything football related, just idiotic hoodlems.
All I'm saying is, with over 300 players at jack hunt..... I wouldn't want to be found out for being responsible if it was me! - those kids'd dish out a right beating!

There will almost certainly be a campaign launched, aparently there is a big piece in the paper tonight. looking forward to hearing what the old man plans to do, but at the moment we're all gutted. All the photo's and memorabilia ruined, band equipment ruined. The only thing not damaged is the trophy cabinet.

nice to hear AL. good to see the local football community rallying round after a fellow club and i'm sure out of the clubs in the local area netherton would be the first club to do the same!

i know netherton aren't everyones favourite club but i think you'll be hard pressed to find someone who is not an admirer and it really is nice to see some true spirit within the local football community that puts the game itself into perspective.

Surely a young lad such as yourself can survive on a couple of hours kip Eddie. Youth of today - no stamina..

I didnt think you were playing at the moment mate so you shouldnt have been too tired at the Fortress yesterday.

Sad to see the history of Netherton in the newspaper articles, etc going up in smoke.

    Default Netherton Clubhouse burned down

Matt and Ed have told me about the messages of support on the noticeboard. I tend not to get involved in messages cos most of you hear quite enough of me on a Sunday and once I start....

I want to thatnk everyone who has contacted the Club one way or another with messages and offers. At a time when we are all very low they have been most welcome and come from many quarters. Thank you.Thank you.

At the moment we are involved in insurance business but one thing is for sure we will rebuild our Clubhouse. There are many hundreds of players who have passed through the Netherton ranks many playing for other teams today (even though I never recognise them - ask JB) so we need to rebuild to keep on the tradition.

We will need to fund raise thats for sure and ideas are coming together.

    Default Netherton Clubhouse burned down

An Idea has emerged that sounds good to me. It is based on the FA Charity Shield. A Sponsor has offered to donate a shield if we can convince the PFA to stage a match between the Saturday PFA Cup Winners V the Sunday PFA Cup Winners (note no Netherton interest this year).

London Road would be the ideal venue for this season curtain raiser -the Greater Peterborough Super Cup - if that could be arranged. At present the Sunday League teams don't get a chance to play at POSH. The first years entrance money could go to the Clubhouse Restoration Project thereafter to a suitable football charity as determined by the PFA.

As with the Charity Shield if the same side won both Saturday & Sunday Cups (eg Deeping) a suitable alternative team would step up.
