Wink Huntingdon Reserves vs Sileby Rangers

    Macca Sports
For the 1st time since taking over i can say i have a full squad to select from & personel to compete.
We started the brighter & controlled the 1st 15 mins, but lost a bit of momentum for a 10 minute spell. with us dominating there keeper & defence was busy & we played a lot of pass & move. in 25th minute there keeper pulled off a double save from Lee Deane to keep them in it & a 30 yarder from Jamie Browett.
Unfortunatly a sloppy tackle gave them a free kick outside our box & with us switched off the took it quick! there 11 hit a shot that clearly hit there own players hand in our box fell to the 7 with open goal to poke in 1-0 down.
Normally we feel sorry for ourselves after going a goal down, but the heads were up & we went for it, Gerard Evans put a delightfull cross over the head of there full back for Ondre Odaine to control & slot past the keeper 1-1 half time.
2nd half we started quick & again pilled on the pressure then Mark White played a floating ball over the top which there centre back tried to head home only for Sam Moakes to nick it & pass it into empty net. we switched off after going ahead allowing them to build momentum, panic stations set in & midfield got caught over passing it & they snatched it to put the ball in the net.
Jake them pulled off a few good saves to keep us level & we were on the ropes. double substitution, Michael Drage for Sam Moakes & Michael Benning on for Lee Deane. we held off the pressure until a great finnish in the 89th minute that bounced off the bar & only just landed behind the line 3-2 & we were devastated. So all out attack in last 3 minutes, a ball from Mark White found Michael Drage on edge of the box & a great little pass sideways to Michael Benning to run onto & smash it into the top corner 3-3, 93rd minute but no more than we deserved.
After the match i was very happy with what id seen, still a few teething bits but allround happy with what i seen especially as there a great team who also had 4 1st team players playing for them. My man of the match was easily TomHart on his debut he was calm & composed at the back & made a huge diffrence. Team rating 9 out of 10

Macca your full and complete squad implies these lads will stay with you week in week out? Or it is a full and complete squad for midweek games only?????

I had 1 player who can only play midweek. The rest are there for good! On Saturday I had 23 to choose from so it's looking good & the fact that none were from the 1st team means maybe were progressing. Loosing that 1 individual isent to bad on saturdays as I have 4 quality players who are waiting in the wings to make there debut

He will stay, my objective was to have a team capable of competing with the 1st team & in order to do that I had to bring in 1st potentials, eg: Gerard Evans, Michael Calvin, Tom Hart, Mark White, Michael Fox!
Theres no reason why any can't make it in 1st team & basically that's what the reserves are there for

I think these lads will stay loyal to Macca Mick. They are all mates with each other too and he has a good thing going there, from what I saw before hanging-up my boots.

If Ondre gets asked to go 1st team then that's fair enough! As I said that's what were here for! (unfortunately)
But Rick has just signed a few quality strikers so there squad is full & the fact Michael Calvin, myself, Gerard are in the team helps as were all good mates. No difference for a lot of teams who have players that can easily play higher but enjoy playing with there mates

Macca...think you need to learn some manners. Just found out that one of my players turned out for you last night. A phone call would of been the polite thing to do. Although I fully understand that there is no rule stating you have to, it would of been common courtesy to let me know.. this would of at least given us a chance to speak with the player instead of you filling his head with promises and diverting his attention. We are 5 games away from completing our season and have a semi final of the senior cup coming up and we are now a player down.
Once again the great UCL hurts a club..

Al I think its not so much lacl of manners as much as a lack of who cares anyway from the UCL clubs? My experiences with players going to UCL sides have been bad to say the least but the 1 club i did get respect from Huntingdon. i know that Als moved on but dont think that this should change. I had a bad experience with Pat Raymaent at Deeping assuming it was ok just to take 1 of my players. The rules stink!!!! That said a little further up the ladder when Stamford approached the lad a 7 dayer was put in and we acknowledged this and was greatfull. Just because its not requied doesnt mean its appropiate to do it!

Macca would this be 1 that you have plans for permantely? And i would haste a guess that its not Browett????

Micky your right about Al. He always showed respect to clubs when wanting a player. It's happening too many times to clubs and the sooner the fa bring in a one player one club rule the better.
Interesting to see that huntingdon reserves are looking to compete with the 1st team.. I always thought a reserve side was there to compliment the 1st team..

As much as macca is a good mate, i got to agree with Alex on this, i did a similar thing to Gino when i was at cliffe by inviting Luke Elsom along to play in a friendly for me without mentioning it to Gino, call at a school boy error by me, gino let me no point blank that i was out of order, i apologised and thankfully he accepted.

Whether there is a rule or not about approaching a player to come play for you when he is already at a club, whether its at a 'Higher Level' or not, common courtesey should be shown. Saying that did Macca know that Tom was playing for you Alex? he probably did, i just asking.
    looking for that next challenge

Was this instigated by a fellow player? The players are the worst for doing it. They sew the seed of doubt and then it just snowballs. While i accept that this is unfair to blame the manager its still completely out of order for the manager to take him on at any point without a courtesy call. This in my opionion is the same close season to. If you wanna sign any player in season put in & DAYS. Out of season a call of respect??????

In Macca's defence, this is his first management role and it is a steep learning curve. I'm sure the two men will resolve the matter like gentlemen and in the future, he'll know the right etiquette.

After speaking to alex & heard what he had to say, or shout! I apologised as I was nieve to not think about the pdfl rules. I should have rung him & told him! Now I better not bump into him or ive had it.

It was a rookie mistake & I hold my hands up. What done is done & I've tried to appologise for my mistake
