    Macca Sports
So a little incident in our game vs Guyhuirn today... lets see everyones views.

REC whittlesey have a man injured in a tackle in the Guyhuirn box, there lads all say to full back to put the ball out so he can receive treatment.. INstead the lad passes it to the winger who we all think is going to put it out as their whole team are saying put it out... As we all stop the winger decides to run with the ball, as he does this the center mid realises its a 2 on 1 situation so stops shouting put it out and starts to run with him... Thankfully as the winger tries to square the ball for an open goal he fluffs it and our GK manages to boot the ball clear.....

Now the interesting part after a few handbags and exchanged words and only 30secs later i win the ball in Guyhuirn half with a crunching tackle, which falls to our winger, they stat asking for the ball to be put out as he is injured and all stop thinking we are going to pass up an opertunity. Our winger smashes the ball in off the post... Que the your cheats and arguments between both sides...
What would you have all done??????
I quite openly said to there whole side that even although we were in an attacking position i would normally put the ball out, but the fact that only 1 min earlier they tried to take advantage of a worse situation where they were in no position to attack unless we all stopped, which happened then they had no right to call us cheats... they did not take it to kindly but as i pointed out had they knocked the ball outta play for treatment to our player then the whole situation would not have arrived in the first place.... Karma i believe its called!

In the situation you mention, I reckon you should kick the ball out and be the bigger man in my humble opinion, if someone looks injured then forget whats happened before and get the ball out to check the lad is ok, if the oppostion dont want to play by that ethos then thats down to them.

I have to say, I found Guyhirn a really good group of lads when we played em last week (Sundays, and we smashed em 6-2) so I really cant imagine how you even got arguing with them anyway.. saying that Harley, you could start an argument in an empty room lol

I think your lads should have put the ball out.
you cant have a go at them for not doing it then when you get the chance do exactly the same and not put the ball out.
But I have a feeling when you are caught up in the heat of the moment your mind works differently and i have a feeling many would have carried on as your team did. im guessing this goal had a big imact on the outcome or were you already a few goals ahead?

No Harbs the game was locked at 1-1 although they had 1 attempt on goal which was a free kick and they scored from it, although we were well on top all game... but id say it had a massive affect on the game as that put us on top... Also any other time as i said i would put the ball out, but as you state the heat of the moment got the better of us.
Sean they were a great bunch of lads and at half-time i went and spoke to their skipper explaining the situation which at the time he didnt agree with but after the game he came over and said in fairness on reflection i can agree with you and say id have done the same thing, also during the 2nd half 1 of their lads done his ankle ligaments in and who carried him off, none other than myself.. Hammil your just bitter about last weekends humping still

The best bit was their number nine picking an argument with Mr Harley then insteadof decking him gives him a slap and I do mean he actually slapped him haha

Two wrongs don't make a right.
To kick the ball out shows a great deal of sportsmanship whether its a "suspected" head wound/injury or not.
Would you have come on this site feeling better if you had the moral high ground instead of the "they did , so I did" argument
No doubt I will see it in the sportsmanship marks when the resulr sheets arrive

It's the ref's decision to stop play.

Play to the whistle, and all that.

PSMFL i dont feel bad about what we did at all, although agreed 2 wrongs do not make a right i think you will find that sometimes certain events in a football game have consequences.
Yes Moe that was funny, what a plank he was funny tho after that he didn't appear for the 2nd half... must have known that the 1st 50/50 between us he would be getting a good smash!!

Andy in fairness the ref was excellent, after the incident the ref said to their striker they had no argument as only 1 min earlier they set the president for the game as they themselves were the original perputraitors.. as i said earlier had they shown some sportsmanship i would gladly have...and the young lad given me a slap in the face didnt really spur me on either lol..

Gino i love how you put it!!

Also maybe it will teach them that if you do not play fair you have to expect your opponents to then follow suit! I personally felt we should not stoop to their level but saying that, hopefully they will have learnt that if you expect your opponents to be good sportsmen then it has to work both ways.

its up to the ref to stop the game not the players, if its a close game or we are team chasing the win, then play on, im only interested in winning and dont care if im not liked in the way i gain it.

I'd have carried on after the way they acted.

besides, wasn't a rule brought out about 5 years ago that it was up to the ref to stop the game, and if you kicked the ball out and it wasn't a head injury, or, the ref didn't feel it neccessary to stop the game, then it was punished with a yellow card? It's not enforced with a booking much now, but i remember a lot of bookings being dished out when the rule was first introduced.

It's deffo a rule. At the time it came out quite a few people in professional football got booked for kicking the ball out.
