    Default Penalties- Good idea???

    Macca Sports
    Hi all!
I've always had a thought that on penalties, especially shoot out's in major competitions that the manager/captain should have more imput in the taking of penalties!
The majority of penalties seem to be missed because the player seemed to lack confidence or was caught in two minds.
I think there is a case that when the 5 players are chosen the manager should tell each player where he wants them to place the ball. From that point onwards the player just has to do what he's told, doesn't have to walk half the lengh of the pitch thinking "Which way should I go?", Which way do I think the keeper will go?"Should i put my laces through it, or place it?"
I think on penalties awarded during the game the captain should just go & whisper in the person's ear where he wants the ball putting.
I've always felt it crazy that a manager would take his team to a major final (local or professionaly) Tell his team who they are marking on set pieces etc & what he wants from them during a game. But when it comes to 5 kicks of a ball to win a major trophy or progress to a next round a manager would be happy to just stand and cross his fingers!!

It may allready happen, but is something i've never seen or heard of???
Views on wether you think this would be a good/bad idea would be an interesting read...

Nah you could not do that.... how can you say to a player what side you want them to hit a pen!!!! a player picks a side because at that time he feels confident that where he is about to put it is the best place..... Pens are a mind game between player and keeper. If a player already knows where he is to put the ball then the body language will assist the GK. For me pot luck is the best way to go... and much more fun.. also if you feel that worried then dont take 1!!

Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala

I know what you're saying, but you could easily say the same about alot of things in a game like how you mark from a corner/free kicks.
Most players grow up & are trained to man mark for 15 years or more of junior football - then a manager tells them he wants them to "Mark by zones", because the manager decides that's the best way not to conceed, even if the player is not comfortable with it he does it because his manager wants him too!
My point was I felt it would take away the element of being caught up in the occassion/two minds & just blasting (Waddle style).
If a Gk Is not allready assisted by body language, I'm assuming you're suggesting every player has no idea where it is going until their last stride?
Geordielec - If you only say hit it hard, then you're allready having an input & maybe saying something totally different to what the player intended/wants to do - maybe leaving him confused as to what to do for te best???

Looks like I'm on my own here, lol!
I've never come across a player who likes to put them in the same place - I bet there's alot of keepers out there who wish they come across these players...

You look at most stats on prem pens & you will find most pens go same way, I didn't mean every single one! Lampard is prime example of this
