This may come as a surprise to you all, but the Embankment has one full pylon of 3 floodlights out, and a further 4 out around the picth.
Obviously "Duty of Care" / Safety, is still on no interest to the above organisations.
I am so pleased that this little village called Peterborough promotes such facilities, at inflated prices, but still manages to make big cities like St Neots look very forward thinking!
Fit for purpose? Never.
Mr and Mrs Windle have earned enough money over the years with the games there that they perhaps may like to replace the bulbs!
Sadly another cheap shot, not even worthy of a full reply.
Chris i cant agree more, although no doubt Rob and Wendy have put back into the community, i have no proof just speculating i would like to think that maybe your are correct in that for the last 10-15 years however long it has gone on they have made money, that maybe you are correct they could replace them if they are needing done. Or at least help out with the cost.
I would like to point out the athletics track also needs a set of lights replacing but when you think how much Vivacity has spent recently on doing up all the leisure centers and also expanding the pavilion down at the athletics track so more people can have showers etc it cant be easy just to magic up money. Especially when times are hard and they are cost cutting and trying to save staff jobs...
Lights fixed or keep staff in a job, i know which one is more important.

Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
rwt is no different then what powerleague do, i dont see them getting hammered for it. is rwt run as a business? if so teams can choose where to shop or not. if you lease your business premises from the coucil, then you should have tennants right to a required standard. either that or replace the bulbs and deduct cost from their rent.
Thats interesting Al because both charge the same pretty much yet powerleague cover all of their own costs..... so that would say the outlay for Powerleague is much more.

im just to polite and mellow nowadays, must be cos im getting old! maybe its time for me to join both pdfl and psmfl committees? then county?
Doesn't Rob hire the pitch from Vivacity? As such, i'm not sure any criticism of the poor facilities can be laid at his door.
Frankly if I were renting the pitches from Vivacity then I would expect the cost of bulbs nets corner flags to be looked after by the owner.
If you rented a house and the plumbing was shot, you'd levy the charge/blame with the landlord.
If Rob was a multinational company like Powerleague, who had big money sponsors like Lucozade, then perhaps you could say that he should pay for the upkeep.
As it stands, he doesn't own the ground and rents it, so should not be held accountable for the cost of its upkeep.
Out of interest did the games still go ahead?
Should teams also cut the grass, mark out the pitches, put the nets up and the corner flags at Bretton Woods before they play there, too?
Raph but as a tenant of a house as you put it the property must be looked after by the tenant and also be left in the same state when they have finished using it... If a tenant abuses it or causes any damage to it then they are held accountable for the damages... My point being that when vivacity paid thousands for new astro did Rob pay anything towards it??? As being the main user of the facilities down there its his constant use and miss use of certain players that wear the wrong boots etc that causes it to be damaged.
So really yes your point is valid but there is an argument for both sides.
So as it stands he may not own it but as you put it he does rent it therefore must be accountable for some costs towards wear and tear.

Of the lightbulbs?
Well in reflection probably not of the light bulbs, but the fact remains that unless Rob can himself confirm it. If he pays no costs what so ever to the repairs and damages etc caused by the constant use then he can have no argument when the lights go and the company has no money to repair them.
Its a give and take game, yes he may indeed be putting money into the community with his use of the pitches. But rest assured if he was not their someone else would be.

But he's hiring the facility, warts and all, from Vivacity. All maintenance and repair costs should be borne by Vivacity and recovered through their hire charges.
Shaun, I just cant imagine anything being signed by Rob to say should the general wear of the facilities happen then he will be responsible for them.
If you own something and rent it out then your liable for basic maintenance
If I recall the astro was being rented out to Rob at full price for years in a right shocking state so from that point of view you could say he has paid in advance for the maintenance.
Shaun, this is an argument you will never win, before Rob started RWT the evening football consisted of wirrina and werrington 5 a side leagues, Rob has over the years done a fantastic job for Peterborough providing what was obviously a very needed service, if he has made £1 or a million pound he has worked for it and Peterborough residents and the council especially has reaped the rewards from his hard work. As for the maintenance of the facilities wear andtear is to be expected and vivacity has a responsibility to maintain the facilities in a state fit for purpose. If the argument of well you use it your responsible guess we had best get the lads down to sort the manor, harbs better get to lindesfarne ect....
They are council pitches and it is their responsibility. That's just my opinion obviously.

Candygram for Mungo!
Al, I know the comment was made slightly tongue in cheek mate, but you really should consider it - with the challenges that the PDFL are now facing I couldnt think of anyone better to join the committee to bring new ideas and fresh impetus and at the very least I guarantee it would liven things up no end![]()
