    Default Sun morning demise!

    Macca Sports
So Lime tree have folded mid season on top of lord westwood before the season even started, and now Coates have again had a game called off due to lack of players. (6 i am told were only available) for their game yesterday. Are they the next team to fold????
Why is it the Sun am league has took such a nose dive???
One also needs to ask why a team like ploughman which has an array of talent and UCL players playing for them is playing its trade in div 3 and a team like Guyhuirn are playing in div 2 who this season have lost every game???

Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala

Shaun, I dont think its Sunday morning football as such, it's more a case of the Sunday Prem I reckon.
That division is and always will be a really hard one for many teams because most teams when they get there arent best equipped to deal with playing against teams full of UCL players, you also find there's nowhere else to go and nothing to strive for as you most likely aint gonna win the league (Netherton are lol) and the cups are beyond you and no promotion to aim for, also most Sunday teams are groups of mates and the lifespan of that for them and their managers are usually about 5 - 7 yrs unless you find someone new to take over and new lads coming in all the time etc, after that time you'll see them fold and then new teams spring up.

Take a look at the other divisions, all full and all really well contested, the Ploughman will have brought in those UCL lads after the league had placed them in Div 3, not much you can do against that really until end of season, wouldnt be surprised to see them in the Prem or Div 1 next season though and Guyhirn down the bottom league, new teams are hard to place correctly but they even out eventually?

I reckon ex racing/jube players should all come out of retirement for a season a re form the squad under shakey.

It is the whole of Sunday Football that has seen a decline over the past few years for numerous reasons such as Cost, lifestyle, attitudes, UCL etc... Quite simply it is not what it was and will take a mammoth effort to get back to anywhere near where it was.

Watched some games over the past few months and the standard has been woeful to say the least.

Harbs, no chance on the JNE bit!

sean the first part of your message reads like this... teams don't like the prem division because they may lose! is that your opinion that most teams dont want to compete.... and why there are good teams lower in the divisions for a easier trophy? (pot hunters!!) most of your message is correct about hard to place teams in divisions at start of year etc as some players want to play with friends/easy sunday morning etc.

true Netherton will be challenging for the league but do many teams actually think they cant win the league? Everyone in the prem can beat each other and as for cups we have lost against a lower division team so im sure they wouldnt think being in the prem would suck with nothing to strive for! You either like to compete or you dont. tell that to cocos who came out all guns blazing on sunday. think alec daltz is doing a great job there in his first year.
As for players, we at netherton may have around 2/3 playing in a good week but normally its about 1 or 2 but its having a strong squad throughout Ucl or not Ucl that wins you games..... so yeah not quite sure why we would be shocked harbs if we lost to a team. any in the prem can beat us , racing/jne/ptown have beaten us, or anyone. you earn your wins no one gives you them. i hope many teams continue to strive for the prem title. top 2 in 6 years not bad so far

Alec has been running Cocos for 2 years or more mate and they still lost and Netherton still havent lost in the prem this year and won it last year, netherton lost to a P'boro Town side that hadnt lost for 18 months I believe and will be in the prem next year, Racing and JNE were the same team and are now folded leaving Netherton to take top dog spot - so I dont really get most of your post that makes out those points arent true or dont matter mate?

I'm not knocking Netherton, cocos or anyone else at all either, far from it, I appauld Dalts as we had some good games against them as Scarlets and also Netherton etc, I was just trying to point out that a lot of good lower level teams that climb the ranks are built on success and generally have a team life span of 6 or 7 yrs (on average perhaps?) and when/if they hit the prem they hit a wall with nowhere else to go and nothing much to aim for and that sudden change is hard to deal with for many teams and players, not everyone has the 200 club a brilliant clubhouse, 3G pitch and many youth sides with lots of volunteers helping them out, it's hard hitting the prem after years of success and no backing is all I was saying, not knocking what you boys achieve..

I suppose there just isnt the variety and volume of talent willing to play Sunday footy on a regular basis and stay loyal to 1 club anymore also, take the top 30 or so lads out into 3 or 4 teams (Netherton, P'boro town, cocos etc) and the rest struggle to compete? just my opinion is all mate.

it simply comes down to who is the manager. nowadays most sunday managers are just players, who just take over as no one else wants it.

Just to let you know lads, the ploughman didnt recruit UCL players when we looked to be put in div 3, When being entered into the leagues we asked for div 1-2 to see how we done in the first season, and where placed in division 3. And we are all just a group of mates like you said that used to play together a few seasons ago for The Cock Inn on sunday afternoons until we folded due to the manager in charge at the time, and now we just seem to be doing slightly better as before the teams average age was about 17 and now if probably around 22-23.
