Rooney is our best player by far and any team management would do the same if their KEY player was going to miss a final, important game etc... Back of the Sofa wake up as you are being naive on this if you think otherwise no matter what the circumstances are.

Foggy I didnt say I didnt expect them to do it, far from it.
I just dont agree with them doing it personally, especially after seeing the way they handle others who appeal red cards they dish out - that was my point really.

PST getting back to some good banter at last though...

Hacks just been discussing it on Skys Sunday Supplement, some good discussion on it with the general opinion being that 2 footed should be better defined and red cards if out of control and Kompanys was not out of control and not really 2 footed either, they all agreed Johnsons was out of control and a red without doubt and they couldnt believe it wasnt even given as a foul...

Was funny to hear that a lot of the so called top refs refer to themselves in the third person using their own nicknames - OH DEAR!

Sean, I should give up on it now mate, its clear that the lunatics have taken over the asylum - and if you want proof just watch the Tottenham /Wolves game and Mike Jones giving a drop ball on the Wolves six yard line - thats what you call following the letter of the law, priceless!!!!

Missed that, will have a peek later on youtube, what happened?

I dont mind refs getting it wrong now and then as we all have off days, Swanny reffed our game the other Sunday and he did it really well, he got a few calls wrong but he explained his actions and was consistent so everyone was happy enough, it's the insane way the FA backs their own laws and refs up all the time, if you appeal you get hammered yet they appeal things like Rooneys red card and it's that attitude that just rubs everyone up the wrong way I reckon.
When I heard about the ruling that says you can no longer appeal some things without video evidence that was the final straw for me, it's pretty clear they have an attitude that Ross showed early on in this thread (thankfully he mellowed lol) it's a "Like it, or F*CK OFF" policy haha.

Yes mate that "little" change to the appeal procedure sums it all up nicely -watch the Spurs v Wolves game - two Wolves players, Hennesey, the goalkeeper, and possibly Johnson collided in the six yard box, Hennesey had caught the ball and retained it even after they fell. After treatment what did Jones do? Simple instead of using common sense and simply handing the ball back to the keeeper or "bouncing" it back to him if you want to be more correct, no! he insisted on a drop ball!!!!

Priceless cue the Wolves players being up in arms and protesting, and rightly so, just a pity that the Spuds them went and contested the bounce up instead of just standing and wating for the ball to be cleared or more within the rules of fair play simply letting Hennesey pick it up, would have at least shown a modicum of sportsmanship - honestly you couldnt make it up .............
