I had a free Saturday for the first time in a while, and as I live out in the Fens I decided to go and watch Moulton Harrox.
I often read posts on this site but very rarely post anything, so I know that there has been a lot of bad words said about referees this season on here.
Now, if any of those bad refereeing performances are as bad as the one that I witnessed on Saturday I will be very, very shocked.
I was truly amazed at the lack of control, ability and awareness of the official in charge.
There was a shockingly bad incident in the game, where Harrox's opposing keeper (not sure who the team was, they play in orange) went in to a one-on-one and got a severe knock which left him knocked out for at least five minutes. When the incident happened the referee surely would have seen that the keeper was not moving, up to a minute after the collision. If that wasn't bad enough the official still didn't notice after three players (home & away) were attending to the keeper and putting him in the recovery position. And with 22 players screaming for the referee to stop the game he continued to chase the ball round the pitch like a dog chasing a frisby. I was horrified by what I was watching. Both physios ended up having to just run on the pitch without the referee's permission.
The keeper only looked 18 or so, how would his father feel if he was watching and seeing the diabolical lack of protection his son was receiving from the man "in charge" of the game.
If this incident was bad enough on it's own, as a qualified official myself, there were plenty of other significant mistakes made, including players which should have been sent off for 'denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity' and a penalty given for an impecibally timed tackle.
It begs the question, how often are referees graded and assessed? And do they still get the same treatment (i.e. demotion/promotion)
Not very often mate......
Referees will only get assessed if they've applied for promotion. Not known of a referee being demoted though
Me Buddy have to admit to being a bit puzzled by 1 of your comments regarding Moultons opposition: -
"not sure who the team was, they play in orange"
Now having decided to go and watch Moulton Harrox had you then wandered down to their home ground on the off chance of catching them play I could understand if you did not neccesarily know who they were playing. However as Moulton were away the fact that would have driven to Ramsey and from their to Ramsey Town's ground might have been a clue. An explanation might be that you were driven to the game as a passenger (possibly blindfolded). If this explains it, then to have spent 90 minutes completely oblivious to where you were is a feat of detachment indeed.
From my powers of deduction (fixture list, result in paper, they play in Orange) I would say that without any reasonable doubt Moulton were indeed playing Ramsey and hope this helps to add to your otherwise crystal clear recollection of the game.
Apologies Tommy, meant to say in my post that it was Moulton Harrox Reserves, not First Team.
Ha ha same old Tommy - No apologies needed Me Buddy, a quick look at the week-end fixtures, and a knowledge of local teams would have allowed Tommy to deduce that it was indeed Moulton Harrox Reserves v Thorney you were commenting on LOL

Back to trainee Cluedo for me then and my humble apologies Me Buddy - thought it a bit weird (the orange threw me!)
Buddy i need to ask, why on earth you are lambasting the referee for not stopping the game?? There is 21 other players on the pitch while the GK in question is unconscious, now call me slightly trivial but if both sets of teams were attending to the GK why was the ball not just put out of play???? Its seems you have jumped on the referees back when actually it was both sets of players who should have put the ball out. If it was the team i was playing against GK or any other player for that matter that had been knocked out and i could see some of my players attending to him then i would have put the ball out. The fact that the game continued for a minute as you put it says that either the incident was not as bad as you are making out or there is 21 players that don't really care. Now yes the Ref in question should have seen it, however if the players fail to put the ball out they are just as much to blame as the Ref is correctly keeping up with play. Also note that on Sunday Theo Walcott was KO and the ref who is a pro did not see it and tbf neither did most people and it was only Lindeguard that noticed it, now with 4 officials and 80 thousand fans it still took the ref about 20 secs to be told what was happening. Yet a Saturday afternoon ref at local level is being battered for a similar thing yet had no where near the help and 2 sides that continued to play on...
Somehow i think you are being a little unfair if you think it is his fault, as for the other decisions again these happen at the very top level and rather than say how rubbish he was why not after the game say you to are an official and offer some constructive criticism, that way its his choice weather he chooses to learn from it and you have then done the decent thing.
May i ask did the young lad goto Hospital and is he ok???
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
Glad someone mentioned this game, was gonna myself as i played in it so i'll give my point of you- Thorney goalkeeper has i big collision with the moulton striker, now if the ref was following the play he would have saw this, about 4 of the nearest players attended the player and about 15 players screamed at the ref so the physio's could get on whilst the other two players who hadn't stopped cos they didn't hear a whistle carried on with the ball that the ref was chasing (there's the correct maths for you assassin) for about a min the player was on the floor before any treatment was given which is an absolute disgrace if you ask me, even the moulton players agreed.
The walcott scenario was completely different as it wasn't obvious he was out, hence why lindergaard was the only one who attend him,it was the sort of scenario where you had to be there on saturday.
As for talking to the ref in the game or after the game it wasn't even possible as he was unapproachable just handing out cards if anything was said, didn't even attempt to see if the keeper was okay or even an apology of my bad a got it wrong sorry. The rest of the game was officiated badly for both's side and thats about it.
I believe the ref actually comments on this site, would be good to hear his opinion as we didn't get one on Saturday.
On a more positive note a big thank you goes to the moulton physio who was straight on the scene and did a great job, i know a letter has been sent but thought i would say it again. The kid I'm glad to say is okay now, just wasn't a nice scenario
Gman thats all fine and well, but you are saying the game went on for about a minute before it was stopped, what i dont seem to be able to grasp is how can you blame the ref for not stopping the game when 2 teams continue to play???
I was not there which obviously means that i cant really comment on the game but i am only commenting on what is being put on here and if you and buddy are both saying the game continued then it is clearly not just the ref who was at fault, the Walcott scenario is no different because the ref did not see it and its clear that on saturday the ref in question also did not see the event as its also clear neither did certain players, which im kind of inclined to say was more than 2 players unless 19 players stopped playing football and were all screaming at the ref to put the ball out of play and the ref and the 2 players for 1 whole minute had a game between themselves.
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
That's pretty much what happened Glagow, the players who had the ball carried on as the whistle had not been blown and obviously didn't realise the seriousness of the collision.
Not really sure if thats maths assassin but if the defence and other players were more worried about 'pushing out' then thats there priority, the point I'm making is that it looked innocuous challenge as it was how he landed, two different scenarios trust mealso i see your an arsenal fan, chin up mate
