ramsey town really are taking the p1ss out of this league and the clubs that play in it, they have called todays game off due to a waterlogged pitch, i'll be checking it on my drive to watch huntingdon v eynesbury,( i had to laugh about that one alex) not only did they force the pdfl to allow them an extra month to get going when others had no choice but to field the players they had, but now they seem to be allowed to call games off when they feel like it, basicly it came down to this, they wanted a 3pm kick off due to them having lights, ( like to add that they are the ****tist light ever and would never be accepted for the ucl), we insisted on 2pm (league ruling), next thing 'GAME OFF'. so how are they going to get their fixtures in before the end of the season? we will object to playing them midweek under them cr4ppy lights. teams like ramsey really are bad for this league, hope they do get the boot next season to div 1 due to not having the required level standards. Rant over
Just spoken to the Ref at the ground and in his opinion the game is playable...
Cricket club called it off as it would cut up (as all pitches are).
Let's play on carpet lads...
what a load of cobblers, "Cos the pitch would cut up". EVERY game should be called off between November and March then!
Dont worry G and Al, we will give you a game next week. Well, we will try our best to anyway. Will just have to bring a pocket big enough for Jamie and Dwayne and Ryan and Shawy and everyone else for that matter. Well I can dream cant I?!
Foxy
as i was passing ramsey i decided to take a look anyway, even the local duck population looked confused as they tried to find the smallest puddle of water to swim in (none on show). we are away next saturday in the pfa semi peter, against pinchbeck.
isnt that the following week mate? pdfl website has us down to play you next week as pinchbeck away to market rasen in lincs cup. both pfa semis showing as 11 feb. hope that is the case as we can do without another saturday off else will be playing 3 games a week come april.
Foxy
It's the 11th foxy. We have Crowland away next Saturday
Our game tomorrow at Riverside has been called off today, waterlogged pitch!
How on earth is this pitch waterlogged, it's barely been raining, what will happen when it rains for a week or so, hire it out as a boating lake?
Ramsey pitch cant be unplayable at this stage...
Blimey looks like a campaign for another 3 points for Godfather Gino and Father Lenihan without having to step onto the pitch is in full swing!!
Maybe a severed Rams head at the doorstep of the PDFL offices should do it.
FYI Ramsey have no game next week either and neither do PSL. We did point out to the league that PSL have to still play Ramsey both home and away plus both teams pitches are available next Saturday but to no avail - so unless there is a shortage of officials or Ramsey asked for a blank weekend it is a bit of a mystery.
Ramsey now have 21 games to play with only 13 Saturday's left in the season from Feb 11th less any further blank weekends because of weather, Easter etc. Handy having floodlights for your home games, but does not help with away games.

I think Ramsey can do what they want Tommy
thats a touch over the top aint it tommy? whats up did i upset you last week or something?![]()
Whatever magic dust you guys have I want some Al
At least we are now down to 2 free Saturdays in February because of our move to Campbell Drive we don't need to worry about clashing with reserves who will continue to enjoy the superior surroundings of PSL
PS: -Anyone want a £25 ticket in the South Stand for Posh v West Ham I don't need anymore!

It does seem strange that the league are letting them do pretty much what they like when they like??![]()
This could mean a midweek game now for Eye and that is advantage Ramsey but will have to wait and see, Al why not kick off at 3pm?
Good win for us against a stubborn Oundle, we should have won by more but their keeper was outstanding and our finishing was poor but a win is a win and keeps us in the mix with some tough games coming up although we have a week off this week.

Andy the FA are laying the law down on Step 7 requirements, and the Peterborough League has no option but to comply if they want to retain status in pyramid.
This only seems to mean that both of your changing rooms are at least 12 square metres and you have loads of toilets. Back dressing room at PSL which the home team uses is only 10 square metres (has been for about 100 years!). Plans afoot to change are well documented and may well be in place early next season, but we only had 5 weeks between informing the league ourselves that we did not comply to getting it fixed or face relegation. Therefore we will play at Campbell Drive which has 18 square metre changing rooms but no clubhouse etc. and for some unknown reason have to move now. Not exactly a step forward but the hands of the League are tied (though we need to ensure that they do not go beyound the step 7 remit and for us to incur additional unnecessary expense for the sake of what might be 7 games max).
Surely if the Ref has deemed the pitch playable then Ramsey will be in breach of league rules??? Regardless what their groundsman thinks i thought it was the refs call??? Interesting tho that Ramsey have 21 games to get into 13 weeks that would mean a minimum of 7 midweek games but with the cold snap set to finally catch us (weather report is saying next 3-4 weeks) then Ramsey could suddenly find themselves playing 3 games a week... now that would most certainly cut the pitch up! and prove a ball ache to them as getting players available once a week seems a problem for many sides never mind 3!!
Tell all the tims ye no Rangers are gonna get 4 in a row!!! Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy lalalalalala
Im not an expert on the subject of pitches but couldnt a local referee have checked the pitch in the morning?![]()
Tom Flynn
The ref said to me it was playable Al also took a drive to the pitch and said it was fine.
Huntingdon, Harford Sun, Warboys to name a few they played Saturday in that area. I think it only rained straight down on the Ramsey pitch...
They wanted the game moved to 3pm which we couldnt do, they were still trying this upto friday 4.45pm...
I SMELL A RAT..........
The private owner/landlord of any pitch is the authority who decides wether or not a pitch can be used, the referee has no jurisdiction if they say no. In Ramsey's case I understand that the cricket club is the responsible body at Cricketfield Lane.
Councils can and often do decide even at the very last moment, wether or not their pitches are playable. Again the referee can not overule them. Only where there is no objection from them does a referee decide, mainly on the grounds of safety of the players.
Disagree with Darren and Gino when they claim that the League let Ramsey do as they like. If the landlord says no then no it is. However if this becomes a habit using " the pitch will cut up" as a reason for not playing, then serious questions will have to be asked as to wether or not this can be a suitable venue for a Premier League side. Do agree with Al though as this postponement puts Ramsey even further behind with their fixtures. Who will suffer most from that?
Although the floodlights at Ramsey do not meet Step 5 standard as Al colourfully describes, there is no minimum lux level required for our Step 7 and it has been custom and practice to play under lights at our level over past seasons.
Not a very satisfactory affair all round! Sometimes it feels like pushing water uphill, but we'll get there.

Norman, views respected as always but this is not the first time this excuse has been used by Ramsey, I can recall numerous times in the past they have used this and other excuses to get games called off. It just looks to me that we/the league are accomodating them as a club and we should not be. The fact that all other local clubs to Ramsey at all levels played should be a clear indication of something a miss??
Ask Uppingham or Whittlesea how they feel about this, honest clubs who have suffered for one reason or another for complying with league rules.
Point taken Darren, it is my intention to raise this issue (before Political Correctness we used to call this a "problem" not an issue) at the next Directors meeting.
Will report back on here when Board have discussed it. What I can say with a very clear concience is that the League do not give Ramsey or anyone special treatment,we do try to judge each problem (there I've said it) on it's merit, even though it may not appear so to others. In the case of this postponement it was not the Leagues' decision but that of the landlord. But as I have already indicated there will be further questions raised arising out of Saturday.
